Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 497

Mu Yu and Mu Yu

Mu Hao dropped by Mu Yu’s place with his face down.

“What now?”

“Thank you,” Mu Hao mumbled as quietly as a mosquito.

“Did I save a mosquito?” Mu Yu eased, lazing in his chair.

“I said, thank you!”

“Whoa!” Mu Yu gripped his seat as he fell backwards to stop it. “Did you have to scream? Also, ‘thank you’ for what? Just stop claiming Mu Yu to be your bro out there, or he might get annoyed and silence you for good.”

Mu Hao wasn’t stupid; he knew Mu Yu was decently strong if he could put Sikong Santu away with one effortless blow. Even so, he wouldn’t let anyone put down Mu Yu. “Mu Yu wouldn’t hurt a kid! Mu Yu is a hero.”

“You haven’t even met him. Do good men walk around with ‘good guy’ written on their foreheads?” Mu Yu joked with the corner of his lips tugged up.

“As the disciple of Third Continent’s hero, True God, he, naturally, is also a good man. There’s no better proof that he has a sense of duty and justice than the fact that he put the fiend race in their place in spite of all the insults and accusations directed at him!”

Mu Yu mumbled, “You annoying brat, always speaking facts.”

“Even if you defeated Uncle Santu, You’re still no match for Mu Yu,” Mu Hao averted his gaze and muttered quietly.

“You win. You win. I’m no match for your suave, cool, handsome Mu Yu. Is that all you came here to say? Can you go train now? Focus on training instead of fooling around.”

“… Can… Can… Can you train me?”

“Why should I?” Mu Yu questioned, thinking, “I’m as busy as hell!”

“Because you saved me!”

“Uh… That’s a justified reason now? I have to take whoever I save on as a disciple now? I should’ve just let your Uncle Santu or whatever kill me instead of adopting such a poor business model.”

“What do I have to do for you to train me, then?”

“I don’t intend to take on disciples. Plus, I will be leaving your place soon, so I won’t train you. If you really look up to someone, you should try to follow in his footsteps, not drag his name through the mud. Ask your grandpa for pointers; he’s an advanced cultivator.”

“Grandpa and the others are too busy to train me. I just want to learn enough to give them a hand.” Eyes slightly red, Mu Hao continued, “I never meant to damage Mu Yu’s reputation. Grandpa said Fourth Uncle’s lost child is likely to be Mu Yu, so I’ve always believed Mu Yu to be my cousin. I only mentioned it to Sikong Wuqi once. I didn’t think he’d mock me for it and malign Mu Yu. I can’t forgive him for that.”

“Say what? That drunkard is Mu Yu’s father?”

“Yes. I’m not privy of the details, though. That’s just what I heard from Grandpa.” Mu Hao looked to his feet and then back up. “Will you not train me?”

Mu Yu shook his head.

“Fine, then. I’ll ask Brother Mu Yu.” Mu Hao walked off, head hanging down.

Mu Yu pondered, What are the chances that such a coincidence exists?

Mu Rongxuan raced to Mu Yu’s place the next day. “Good morning, Sir.”

“You do not need to be so distant with me. What happened?” Mu Yu asked after answering the door with a yawn.

“Mu Hao told me you saved his life yesterday and taught our traitorous Sikong Santu a lesson. Please accept a bow as gratitude.”

At first, Mu Rongxuan guessed Mu Yu was a Primordial Infant Realm cultivator. Given Mu Yu could defeat a Primordial Infant Realm Ninth layer cultivator, however, Mu Yu had to be a Body Severing Realm cultivator, a realisation that had Mu Rongxuan radiating. If Mu Yu stuck around, it was unlikely Mu Clan would have any challengers again.

“Please keep it a secret to avoid troublesome people knocking. Else, I will have to leave.”

“Please do not worry. I have already told Hao and Xin not to mention a word about it to anyone.”

“… Hao told me his fourth uncle’s son is Mu Yu. Could I ask more about that?”

“Uh…” Mu Rongxuan was rather befuddled as to why Mu Yu would ask about it. Nonetheless, in order to keep Mu Yu around, he chose to explicate, “It all started roughly twenty years ago. We were the most influential clan at Clearwater City back then. Descendants of the clan had no freedom when it came to romance. In other words, parents decided who married whom. As you might expect, marriage was based on gains. My father chose Dongfang Clan’s daughter as a spouse for my fourth brother.

My brother eloped with an ordinary maiden named Zhu Qiuqi the day before his wedding. Disgraced, my father personally led a team to capture my brother. My brother implored Father to let them go as Zhu Qiuqi was already pregnant with his child. Father flew into a rage and demanded she have an abortion in addition to ordering her execution.

“My brother was our most gifted cultivator at the time – he was a step away from surpassing our father. For that reason, Father wanted to have him succeed his reign and, consequently, refused to let him marry an ordinary woman. My brother had no desire to succeed leadership of the clan and preferred to be with Zhu Qiuqi. My brother, therefore, resorted to leading Father away so that she could escape. Of course, Father caught him, but Zhu Qiuqi managed to get away.

“My brother was a different man once he was hauled back. He had no desire to improve and spent all day yearning for his wife and child. As a result, Father grounded him on the property for two years.

“One day, two years later after her escape, Zhu Qiuqi returned to Clearwater City in search for her husband. She yearned to see her husband, yet was afraid Father would harm their child. As such, she didn’t bring their child with her and hid her child’s gender for their child’s sake.

“Zhu Qiuqi knelt at our entrance for three days straight. Father eventually softened up enough to grant them a short reunion – under the condition that my brother picked himself up. Father promised to accept their marriage if he could ascend to Body Severing Realm. Regardless, Father still cut their reunion short right after. My brother devoted his every breath and second to cultivation from then on. Sadly, his wife passed away by the time he ascended to Body Severing Realm.

“For some reason, Zhu Qiuqi’s health deteriorated day by day after giving birth. She thought she would last until my brother successfully ascended. Alas, she took her regrets with her one night and never revealed the whereabouts of their child. Ever since my brother learnt of her death, he stopped cultivating and spent his days wallowing in his woes, drowning himself in alcohol.

“Fourth Brother has only ever mentioned his child’s name. He and his wife decided they would name their child Mu Yu, with the “Yu” for “feather” if their child was a boy and would name their child Mu Yu, with the “Yu” for “rain” if their child was a girl. We had no means of determining their child’s gender. Upon hearing True God’s disciple’s name is Mu Yu, we were shocked. Unfortunately, we have no way of verifying his relation to us even though we want to.

“Your father sure is admirable,” Mu Yu sarcastically praised, thinking, Hell as if I want to be affiliated with your clan even if I am your descendant.

“My father regretted his decision after bringing back my brother because my brother let himself go. My father tried to find my sister-in-law in hopes of lifting his spirits and proceeding with his original intent to pass on leadership to my brother. As fate would have it, things did not go as anyone hoped.”

“How old should the child be if they’re still alive?”

“Nineteen years and seven months old; I am certain of that. As I do not know the age of True God’s disciple, there is not much I can do.”

That’s my age, exactly! Mu Yu inwardly exclaimed.
