Almighty – Ch. 367

Buddhist Pagoda

After scanning the surroundings with electrifying eyes and a cold aura, Yang Tian turned his attention back to the spiritual herb in his hand.

An Earth-shaking roar interrupted Yang Tian. A mighty force smashed the ancient trees around to dust. Mountain-range-sized creature raced over as fast as a peng.

“Store the nine yin dark herb in Ancestral Dragon Ring. Hurry! I think it tagged the herb with a tracking mechanism!” stated Yang Xiao.

Yang Tian immediately did as he was told before dashing into the forest.

The creature raged once he lost track of the herb. He kept crushing beasts underfoot as he ran, creating a river of blood.

Yang Tian fled over fifty kilometres. Exhausted, he flopped into his own puddle of sweat. He breathed a breath of relief when the creature went back the way it came. He sat up to recover his qi and blood.

The area was colder at night. None of the fearful beasts dared to come out of their dens after the debacle. With creatures raging, nevertheless, it wasn’t quiet.  One absolutely went off when he found the herbs in his cave missing.

One of the herbs in Yang Tian’s hand contained a killing intent due to the environment it growing up containing killing intent – which was compulsory for its growth. He snagged a total of nine herbs. Fortunately, Ancestral Dragon Ring concealed his aura from them.

After a while, Yang Tian felt something was odd. Specifically, it was so quiet he could hear leaves rustling, while the aura of death felt too dense for humans to survive.

Yang Xiao came out with a smile to explain, “We might be close.”

Yang Tian looked over his shoulder. “I think so.”

Creatures at the outer perimeter were locked in combat. The area Yang Tian was in was off limits. Not even the creature Yang Tian was afraid of dared to approach.

Yang Tian stopped several kilometres later and vaulted up to a mountain three kilometres tall. He stood on a boulder and allowed the wind to tousle his hair. He grew vigilant upon hearing a devil’s voice. There was no room for error when there were creatures on all sides.

There were three energy pillars up ahead. A mysterious meditation sound came from within the bright nine-storey pagoda located at the centre. There was a Buddha guarding each floor. A bright golden beam shone from the peak of the pagoda.

Yang Tian felt his soul had been baptised merely gazing at the pagoda. His dao recitals resonated with the meditation sound. “Uncle Xiao, what is that?”

“It’s a Buddha Pagoda! Unbelievable!” Yang Xiao pointed to the golden pearl at the top. “You need an advanced Buddhist adept’s relic to refine one! Every relic is one of Buddhism’s sacred items. You need nine for the pagoda. The one at the top there is probably a great sacred grade!”

Neither of them knew much about it. Yang Tian sighed because he couldn’t take it. Anyhow, he then shifted his gaze to the light pillar on the right hand side. He saw a large cauldron shrouded in mist and leaking violence.

Yang Tian saw a massive golden-winged great peng emerge. A Xiezhi, a mythical beast somewhat similar to the Qilin but with only a single horn on its head, then roared. A divine bird evolved from a jade-green condor, then emerged. It was a bifang crane, a mythical firebird resembling a red-crowned crane but with only one leg. Its body was blue, while the feathers on its head were red. As the beasts engaged in battle, a human adept emerged. All of the phantoms in the void appeared real. It resembled the weapon the man in white manifested.

Yang Tian asked, “Is that not our ancestor’s formidable technique?”

“Yes, it’s Mountains and Rivers Cauldron!”

“Amazing. It can evolve the heavens and summon a corporeal Divine Beast.”

Glossary

Xiezhi – The Xiezhi symbolises justice and can magically distinguish between good and evil, truth and lies, the innocent and the guilty. When faced with a wicked person, it will gore them with its horn and then devour them. Image: http://i.imgur.com/1LQbP1J.png

Bifang Crane – The name “Bifang” is supposedly an onomatopoeia for the sound of wood crackling in a fire because it’s a fire deity and a wood deity living in trees.  They are considered to be ominous, with sightings of Bifang Cranes heralding disastrous wild fires.
