Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 543

Interruption

Tian Jiancheng, who incorrectly assumed he’d only be accompanying Tian Budai to spectate a one-sided pounding, charged out from the audience and tried to smash Mu Yu to death with a giant hand, much to the disgust of the audience. Mu Yu knew that defending the attack was on the border of suicide, but he was determined to lop off Tian Budai’s head.

Mu Yu extended numerous branches from Wood Spirit Sword, creating a forest, and firing leaves as darts at the spectral hand that Tian Jiancheng fired off to cancel its output. Sadly, Tian Jiancheng’s attack was too much for Mu Yu, driving the latter into a sand dune before he could separate Tian Budai’s head from his shoulder.

As Tian Jiancheng, Lu Deyi brayed, “How dare you interfere in a match between ultimate immortals?! Third Realm Palace won’t have that!”

Lu Deyi activated a formation to shield Mu Yu and helped the young man up. Before Lu Deyi took off, he pinned Mu Tianhe and Mu Zhexing in place, aware they’d rush in to help Mu Yu. If they did jump into the fray, they’d just cut their lifespan short.

“Mu Yu, are you all right?” Lu Deyi transferred spiritual energy to Mu Yu, whose internal organs seemed to have aged more than Lu Deyi’s, for healing purposes.  “You shouldn’t have used your vitality to activate formations.”

“There are some things I must see through to the end no matter what” – Mu Yu trained his eyes on Tian Budai, who Tian Jiancheng stood in front of – “such as killing Tian Budai.”

The reason Mu Yu cast a formation to trap himself with Tian Budai in a formation as soon as their match commenced was because he was privy to Celestial Star Sect’s modus operandi. Unfortunately, Tian Budai was skilled enough to break out, eventually giving Tian Jiancheng the ability to intervene.

Tian Jiancheng turned a deaf ear to the people lambasting him for he was focused on protecting Tian Budai, whose right wrist was broken and destroyed with sword qi, meaning it was impossible to reattach. Nonetheless, if they had an intermittent herb and the right wrist of a cultivator that was compatible with Tian Budai’s, they could replace his crippled wrist. It wasn’t the first time they’d performed the procedure. As long as Tian Budai lived, he could inherit leadership of the clan and exact his vengeance.

Tian Yuehen never actually meant for Qing Ming to kill Mu Yu; he commissioned Qing Ming to hurt Mu Yu so that Mu Yu’s abilities were hindered when his son had to fight Mu Yu. Tian Yuehen used that exact narrative previous bouts to ensure Tian Budai had a smooth-sailing climb to his current ranking. He didn’t need his son to be invincible; he only needed people to believe his son was invincible. If Tian Budai’s name could strike fear into the hearts’ of others, Tian Yuehen’s goal was achieved. The only reason Sikong Qiwen wasn’t targeted was exactly as Qing Ming stated – the price for sabotaging Sikong Qiwen was an outlandish one.

Challenging two Spirit Severing Realm Greater Heaven Stage formation casters at the same time wasn’t exactly bright. Besides, if he was occupied, Tian Budai would’ve been defenceless. That being the case, Tian Jiancheng let up on trying to kill Mu Yu and concentrated on healing Tian Budai.

“My young master has lost. I didn’t kill Mu Yu, either. All I did was protect my young master. Therefore, I never broke any rules. True God’s disciple, conversely, has shown no compassion, trying to kill my young master even after he had won.”

“I can’t believe you can say that with a straight face. Hasn’t Tian Budai repeated over and over that he wants to kill Mu Yu? What, only he can kill people now? Is losing illegal if you’re from Celestial Star Sect?” Lu Deyi protested, prompting the audience to jump on the bandwagon and curse Celestial Star Sect.

“Celestial Star Sect never and still fears no one. Unlike the motley crew you all are, my young master is a noble man. If you don’t like it, step forward. I’ll gladly accept anyone who wants to question that,” taunted Tian Jiancheng, reminding everyone he was a Body Synthesis Realm cultivator with an energy discharge.

Nobody wanted to make an enemy out of the monster known as Celestial Star Sect.

Xiaoshuai and the dragon vine returned to Mu Yu’s side, the former immediately shielding Mu Yu behind a wall of spiritual qi he formed using spiritual qi in the atmosphere. Wood Spirit Sword landed in front of Mu Yu.

Everyone but Lu Deyi and Situ Yangtian assumed Wood Spirit Sword was a product of a formation. The two veterans knew exactly what was going on, but the two kept their mouths zipped for the meantime. At the end of the day, all that mattered to them was that Mu Yu was their patriarch.

Sikong Qiwen clapped slowly. “Celestial Star Sect will interfere even in a fight between three ultimate immortals.”

Sikong Qiwen confirmed with the sun again that there was only roughly thirty minutes until noon and cracked a disturbing grin. For whatever reason, he focused on conserving energy against Xiaoshuai and the dragon vine as if he was buying time. Nobody knew what was brewing in his mind.
