Three on One
The golden Buddha Pagoda laughed. “Don’t worry, young man. I’ve got all the time in the world today. I’ll recite the sutra…”
Yang Tian had no idea how reciting a sutra would help Yang Xiao. Anyhow, a phantom Buddha emerged. The bitter recital containing profound tones resonated throughout the area along with the golden glow. The river swished along with the recital.
The three dragons were furious. The monthly recital was their nightmare as it could purify their devil nature.
Yang Tian rubbed his eyes, unable to believe a scripture recital could accomplish such a feat.
“It’s not a recital, you know?” Twirling her hair and forgetting the amorous interaction between them, Yuan Xia quietly enlightened, “That’s an awfully difficult Buddhist scripture to grasp. It’s also awfully demanding. Buddha Pagoda’s weapon spirit won’t last long.”
Yang Tian nodded as though he understood, though that was a question mark. The devil race wouldn’t be worth a mention if everyone could grasp it.
Although incandescent, the dragons were actually afraid to an extent, which was attributed to their energy expenditure. Still, they shrouded the firmament. Unfortunately for them, the recitals didn’t stop. Buddha Pagoda didn’t struggle to contain the three of them.
“Uncle Xiao, what do we do?”
“We’ll have to give it all we’ve got. I’ll use Mountains and Rivers Cauldron to contain them. Use that time to escape first.”
“B-“
Yang Xiao interjected with a wave of his hand. “As a divine soul, I have my own ways to escape. Now, are you done with your drivel?”
“None of you are going anywhere!” The three dragons zoomed over Yang Tian.
Yang Xiao levitated Mountains and Rivers Cauldron and expanded it, splitting the void with its ability. “Seal the Heavens!”
A divine light burst from the spinning cauldron, amplifying the recital volume. Ancient cultivators emerged to enforce the seal over the entire area. The phantom Buddhists solidified and sat on top of the three dragons. The three dragons futilely tried to wrestle the Buddhists off. Nevertheless, the recital broke down their minds.
With things in place, Yang Xiao whipped open a passageway, then sent Yang Tian and Yuan Xia in. “Go!”
“Uncle Xiao!” cried Yang Tian, bloodlust surging when he saw how pale Yang Xiao looked.
“It’s all my fault…” Yuan Xia’s carelessness led to her leaking her aura and everything that subsequently followed.
He’ll be fine. Uncle Xiao will be fine… Worst comes to worse, he can awaken Mountains and Rivers Cauldron’s weapon spirit.
It was so windy in the passageway that Yang Xiao’s situation on the other side was a blur. Just as he began to calm down, Yang Tian detected a threat. He immediately vaulted up as the small mountain underfoot split. He borrowed the momentum from the attack to land back on the ground.
A rancid smell on something black zipped through the air toward Yang Tian’s head. He leapt up again and whipped his right leg, summoning two Dao Physiques for battle. The gale violently blew Yang Tian back. Once he regained his balance, he saw the devil dragon with black scales and two wings. Yang Tian smirked and set Yuan Xia down to prepare to slay the dragon.
“Careful, Yang Tian,” warned Yuan Xia.
“Don’t worry.” Yang Tian handed Yuan Xia a jade vial. “Drink it. It’ll help you heal.”
“Okay…” Yuan Xia suddenly remembered the time Yang Tian helped her apply an ointment in the cave, subsequently blushing and pursing her lips. She removed the lid to be treated to a milk-white liquid. “Full of surprises as always.”
Yang Tian utilised Dao Sutra and smiled brightly with a hostile undertone. “Let’s give you a taste of your own medicine.” Yang Tian summoned Xiaobai.
Xiaobai glanced left and right until he noticed the dragon. He bore his teeth and fired up.
