Almighty – Ch. 314

Unlocking the Scroll

Yang Tian examined the scroll from Pill Mystic Sect in his free time previously. He thought it was paper but questioned his judgement at the same time. He also questioned if it was gold since it was impervious to fire and water. He tried prying it open using Black Devil to no avail; all he got were sparks.

Yang Tian also had an ancient adept’s ring he mistook to be an interspatial ring. Yang Xiao couldn’t figure out what it was for, either.

The elder in the painting’s eyes were bright; however, Yang Xiao believed it to be a disguise, citing there was more to it.

Sitting on the ground, Yang Tian summoned his pill flame and dripped it onto the scroll. Unlike before, the scroll glowed. scroll gradually rippled similarly to a body of water.

Yang Tian took a few steps back while keeping his excitement fixed on the scroll. The aura emission confirmed Yang Xiao’s suspicion.

“It is a weapon!”

“Uncle Xiao, could he still be alive?”

The elder in the painting stepped forward. Given Yang Xiao could survive for ages, the elder logically could’ve still been alive.

“It’s just a phantasmal divine soul without a consciousness. There’s no need to be worked up,” elucidated Yang Xiao, chuckling. “It’s basically just a persistent will.”

“Oh…”

The energy in the scroll came to life. The characters and elder vanished from the scroll, leaving it blank. The awoken aura, however, remained.

Yang Xiao commented, “It’s an extraordinary weapon and a unique interspatial treasure.”

The 1.5 metre long scroll levitated and expanded, literally splitting off from the void. Thunderclap was audible, and the area shook as a quirk was summoned. It then zipped across. Yang Xiao dispersed the pressure it emitted using a palm strike, but the golden light intensified, spreading out in the void. The quirk lasted for a long time before retreating. The golden light then weakened. The shrinking aura was a sign the attempt to open it failed.

“Uncle Xiao, what happened?”

Yang Xiao surmised there had to be a key to permanently open it.

Not receiving a response, Yang Tian followed up with another question. “Is my pill flame not big enough?”

Yang Xiao furrowed his eyebrows as the aura weakened. He subtly flicked his wrist, throwing a black ring into the void. Yang Tian shifted his gaze to the scroll. The lightning bolt leapt toward the ring and enclosed it.

“It worked!” Yang Tian smiled. The ring they treated as trash was likely to be the most important piece of the puzzle.

The scroll expanded after emitting its divine might. The exterior layer of the black ring peeled off to reveal its golden colour underneath. The ring flew to the scroll. An illusory brush spawned and began painting on the scroll. As the brush painted, a fog covered the scroll. Soon enough, the scroll was complete with mountains, rivers, a sun and moon, birds, flowers, fish, bugs and even people!

Boom! The massive scroll unleashed a golden beam that pierced the sky. It rumbled as though a chariot was speeding through a battlefield. The ancient citizens on it moved about. The image turned into a bloody and chaotic battlefield.

Yang Xiao thought the scene depicted was familiar. Yang Tian could see cultivators from old times battling foreign races as though he was at the scene.

Once the finishing touch was added and the fog lifted, the life in the painting moved, and the Mutated Beasts roared. It was an era where adepts blasted mountain ranges out of existence.

Yang Xiao pondered if it was Mountains and Rivers Painting. The question was, “Why was it with Pill Mystic?” Yang Xiao decided to enter the painting to investigate.

The painting’s aura was so menacing Yang Tian reactively stepped back; its divine attributes were superior to what he’d previously been exposed to. Being able to paint the battle in ancient times was overpowered – not to mention manifesting a spirit using its incredible material.

Yang Xiao frowned because the painting lacked the primordial aura. A second inspection revealed it was quality but not a divine item quality.

“Uncle Xiao, what is it?”

“I think it’s an imitation. Still, its divine attribute is nothing to scoff at.”
