Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 517

Consciousness

Clearwater City saw another uproar on par with Sikong Qiwen’s sudden rise when news that True God’s disciple, Mu Yu, was a descendant of Mu Clan. Before it died down, the announcement that Sikong Qiwen would take on Mu Yu and Tian Budai on the same day rocked the city again.

Opinions were split on who would win. Of the three, Sikong Qiwen and Mu Yu had pulled off miraculous feats on more than one occasion. Thus, it was hard for anyone to say who’d pull off a miracle this time. Owing to Mu Yu joining the lineup, more cultivators poured into Clearwater City.

All the physicians Mu Mingda asked to treat his son raised their hands in surrender. Months had gone by, yet Mu Qingfan was still a log on his bed.

“Mu Yu, is there any chance of Qingfan undergoing a complete recovery?” Mu Mingda inquired.

“Mingda, calm down. Mu Yu is True God’s disciple and Eternally Youthful Ku Mu’s disciple. He’ll be able to help. Don’t distract him,” Mu Tianhe gently reproached.

“Wait for me outside,” Mu Yu stated.

“All right.” Mu Tianhe had everyone, including Mu Mingda, who wanted to stay, leave and closed the door on his way out.

Mu Yu injected spiritual energy into Mu Qingfan’s body to search for the root of the latter’s issue. Mu Yu didn’t find any damage; in fact, Mu Qingfan was perfectly fine. Mu Yu focused in one Mu Qingfan’s face and discovered a faint evil qi between the latter’s brows.

“Xiaoshuai, what do you reckon?”

Xiaoshuai leapt off Mu Yu’s shoulder and onto Mu Qingfan’s chest. Xiaoshuai gave Mu Qingfan’s heart zone a few knocks and ran his hand over the latter’s forehead. “There’s powerful fiend energy inside, which is the same energy that has stolen his consciousness. Without a consciousness, well, you end up in his state.”

“Fiend energy? Why would there be fiend energy if Sikong Qiwen was the one who hurt him? If he was a fiend, Ultimate Immortals’ Ranking would reveal it.”

“I don’t know. To answer your first question: his consciousness is somewhere else.”

“How is that even possible? Isn’t one’s soul their consciousness? How is he still alive if his soul has been taken?”

“One’s consciousness and soul are not the same entity. When Ju Mang or what’s his face woke, you couldn’t control your body. That’s the equivalent of what you see here. Ju Mang is a consciousness, not a soul. He’s a vegetable unless he retrieves his conscious.”

“How did Sikong Qiwen take Mu Qingfan’s conscious?” Mu Yu pondered, only having heard of Ghost Gate’s ability to steal souls before this. “I guess this means I need to deal with Sikong Qiwen first, then. It’s not like I could just ask for it.”

Upon exiting the room, everyone crowded around Mu Yu. Mu Tianhe asked, “Is Qingfan all right?”

Mu Yu shook his head. Disappointment flitted across faces. Mu Mingda queried, “Is there really nothing we can do?”

“Sikong Qiwen is the key. I’ll go see him.”

“Don’t. You’re not his match,” Mu Zhexing argued.

“He’s right. We need a different approach,” added Mu Tianhe.

“I know what I’m doing. Anyway, now is not the time. We need to get back what Sikong Qiwen took from us.”

“Mingda, you have to get a grip on yourself. Let Mu Yu take care of Qingfan. We have to climb back to where we came from. That’s the best way to avenge Qingfan,” Mu Tianhe encouraged.

Mu Mingda expressed, “Mu Yu, thank you in advance for taking care of Qingfan. I will fight to get our assets back.”

“Let’s start with the bank, then. It’s paramount to our clan. Mm… Gu Clan took it from us, right?”

“Yes. We gave it to them to as a means of repaying our debt.”

Mu Hao, who was hiding behind his father and watching Mu Yu as a thief would, suddenly went red in the face. Mu Yu strolled over to Mu Hao and patted the latter on the shoulder. “I have to make them pay for making a fool out of my cousin, right? Let’s go, Kiddo. Let’s go show them who’s boss.”

Mu Hao gyrated his lips and, eventually, objected, “Gu Clan and I no longer have anything to do with each other. I don’t want to go.”

“What nonsense is that? All you said was you didn’t think positively of Gu Qiaowei. She’s still your fiancée in name. She’s not worthy of marrying into our clan after the snobby attitude she gave our grandpa. I’ll go with you to tell her to take a hike.”

Mu Hao was elated to hear that, but he refused to let it show. He turned to his grandpa and questioned, “Grandpa, can I call off our wedding?”

Mu Tianhe gave Mu Hao an affirmative head scrub. “Go on. I won’t force marriages on anyone in the clan again. Go for whoever you like.”

Mu Hao’s delight finally overflowed and bloomed on his face in a way Mu Yu had never seen before. “Let’s go, Brother Mu Yu!”
