Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 504

Philosophy of a Glutton

Mu Yu stayed cooped up in his rooms for another few days and didn’t concern himself with his new estate or anything else for that matter as he still hadn’t resolved his conflicting feelings for Mu Clan.

“I now know why Qiao Xue preferred to be a fiend.”

“Mu Yu, don’t stress over it. You did well. At the very least, Mu Estate is still with Mu Clan, and you didn’t kick them out.”

Xiaoshuai went through his mountain of drumsticks on the table, throwing the bones at the dragon vine. The dragon vine would bat them back from his chair.

“Mu Yu, what are you even thinking about? Is there any problem that eating a drumstick won’t resolve? … If there is, eat two drumsticks, then.”

“Stupid rodent, Mu Yu is unable to get over the fact that Mu Clan abandoned him, turning him into an orphan.”

“Yeah, but if he wasn’t abandoned, he wouldn’t have met handsome me. If Mu Clan didn’t abandon him, you’d be a pill now, disagree?” Xiaoshuai spat another bone at the dragon vine.

The dragon vine had no counterargument because Xiaoshuai had a point. Nonetheless, he tried disputing, “Sword Shadow Dust Gale would’ve found him one way or another thanks to the wood elemental demon ability residing in him.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that. He never found Qiao Xue. Putting the old man aside, he would’ve never met Ku Mu, either, right? If he never met Ku Mu, that rat from Celestial Star Sect wouldn’t have cost Ku Mu his life, and Mu Yu never would’ve ventured to Formation Sect. Don’t they say, ‘No pain, no gain’? Look for the positives.”

“Oh, shut up. By your logic, Mu Tianhe would’ve had a hand in killing Ku Mu. Are you pretending you don’t know how important Ku Mu is to Mu Yu?”

“If Mu Clan didn’t orphan him, Ku Mu would be a stranger to him.”

“You make it sound as if Mu Clan did the right thing.”

“Don’t put words in my mouth. First and most importantly, Mu Yu would be half the man he is now – if even that – if he didn’t meet me. Without the experiences he went through, he wouldn’t have so many pills. Without pills, he wouldn’t be able to buy so many drumsticks. In fact, he might not have saved Mu Clan’s estate from falling into someone else’s hands. Sikong Qiwen would’ve heckled Mu Clan all the same. Mu Yu’s cultivation wouldn’t be as advanced as it is now if he stayed with Mu Clan. Sikong Qiwen would’ve mowed him down without even trying. How would Mu Yu who stayed with Mu Clan have saved the clan? We should be grateful Mu Yu didn’t grow up to be Sikong Qiwen’s stepping stone.”

“Never expected to hear so much logic from a glutton,” Mu Yu suddenly commented, revealing a smile of relief. “Let’s drop by Mu Clan’s place.”

“You’re going to help Mu Clan out?” the dragon vine queried.

“Not so fast. Though Xiaoshuai is right, Mu Tianhe’s decisions were undeniably the catalyst for many problems. I want him to persuade me to accept him. Plus, I haven’t even had a proper tour of my new home.”

Since Mu Clan’s estate didn’t sell for enough for them to clear their debts, they resorted to selling whatever assets they could sell. After standing for centuries, the clan really was an empty shell of its former self, literally. The former owners were haggard and down in the dumps.

“Dad, we have sold everything we could, but we are still two million spirit stones short of paying off our debts,” Mu Rongxuan weakly informed.

“Still short two million?!” Mu Tianhe’s chair creaked as if both him and his chair were breaking.

“Dad, how come Mr. Yan still has not shown up when six days have already passed?” Mu MIngda entered and inquired.

“We should be thankful for that in a certain way. Have you found a temporary place to lodge? We will move out as soon as he arrives,” stated Mu Tianhe, sighing every time he spoke.

“Not yet. Because of Sikong Clan’s threats, many people are refusing to even interact with us…” Mu Tongji answered.

They all heaved a big breath in unison. Mu Tianhe subsequently suggested, “Our only asset left is the cemetery at the city outskirts. If we still have not found a place to stay by the time Mr. Yan arrives, how about we set up tents to stay there for the meantime?”

Mu Clan refused to sell their ancestors’ cemetery to respect their ancestors.

Mu Hao came bolting in, panting as he reported, “Grandpa, a strange man has come. He says he is Mr. Yan and wishes to speak to you.”

“Mr. Yan?” Mu Tianhe got up and exhaled as if he was exhaling his last hope.

“… Dad, how about we ask Mr. Yan to give us a few more days until we find a place to lodge? A cemetery is not an ideal place to stay,” recommended Mu Rongxuan, hesitantly.

“No. I have always been a man of my word. He has been generous enough to give us six days. How can I bare my shameless face and go back on my word? What’s wrong with staying at a cemetery? Our ancestors are staying there. Would they harm us or something?” Mu Tianhe lectured.

“You want to stay in a cemetery?” Mu Yu questioned, surprised.

Mu Tianhe flinched as he didn’t even detect Mu Yu’s presence and never would’ve if the latter hadn’t spoken up.
