Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 465

Talisman Shadow Clone

Truthfully, Mu Yu had successfully won everyone’s admiration already with his performance thus far against a Body Severing Realm ultimate immortal.

“Hahaha, a Golden Core Realm coward who just runs around all day isn’t qualified to make me breakfast, let alone discuss swordplay with me.”

“Your swordplay is reliant on talisman techniques, not actual swordplay. It’s flashy but useless.”

A Formation Sect disciple verbalised, “I don’t like Talisman Sect, but swordplay is considered the most advanced techniques in formation and talisman arts. We don’t have anyone who can use sword formations. Feng Mu is just crapping out of his mouth now. Even if he’s an elite prodigy, he only had about twenty days of lessons from Patriarch Chen. We aren’t even allowed to learn sword formations.”

“Haha, Patriarch Zhuge, your disciple sure is an expert at disparagement. He makes it sound as though he can utilise a superior sword formation,” Chang Tiancheng jabbed.

Though Zhuge Xiaosheng was in agreement with his disciple’s evaluation and had his own failed experiences, he believed Mu Yu had a reason for his choice of words. Therefore, he replied, “Feng Mu has his reasons for saying what he said. I suggest you prepare your excuses for when Feng Mu’s swordplay puts Ling Zheng to shame.”

“Do you genuinely believe a Golden Core Realm disciple can win this final match for you? Ahahaha, Ling Zheng was only warming up. Worry not, Feng Mu is history.”

Despite his insults, Zhuge Xiaosheng was ready to jump in at the drop of a hat as he promised Mu Yu.

Ling Zheng, who only needed to improve his cultivation to surpass Chang Tiancheng, asserted, “In that case, I’ll give you a true swordplay clinic.”

Ling Zheng sheathed his swords in talismans and powered up. He wrapped himself in a formation and sent two hundred clones of himself up above the ring, each armed with a flying sword.

Talisman Shadow Clone was the name of the talisman technique Ling Zheng used to create his clones. The difference between it and various other clone techniques were that it was virtually impossible to distinguish between the real body and clones. Employing Talisman Shadow Clone in conjunction with Demon Sword Dance Talisman the latter’s potential.

A caveat of Talisman Shadow Clone was that all of the clones were forced to mimic the main body’s movements, regrettably making it almost useless as an offensive skill. Demon Sword Dance Talisman’s automation feature overcame the caveat, allowing the clones to react accordingly. At the end of the day, the effectiveness of a technique was only good as the context in which it was utilised.

“Let’s see you get away this time.”

The Ling Zheng closest to Mu Yu encroached upon the latter, while the others poised themselves to catch Mu Yu if he teleported. When Ling Zheng used Demon Sword Dance Talisman in isolation, the swords had to move, leaving a vacant spot in the formation. When deployed in tandem with Talisman Shadow Clone, though, the clones would be able to make their own judgement and choose the best course of action, eliminating the inherent flaw that Mu Yu exploited.

“Mu Yu, you need Big Earthworm and I to give you a hand? We can try our newly-invented Wind Interlinked Hearts Formation. I want to practice Xiaoshuai’s Lightning Strike on him. I reckon he has a lightning deficiency,” Xiaoshuai proposed as he rubbed his paws together.

“Nah, I’m more than enough to end him.”

Mu Yu nonchalantly waited for Ling Zhen to close in. Using his fingers as chopsticks, he caught Ling Zheng’s sword between two fingers and finally revealed his true cultivation level.

“You’re a Body Severing Realm cultivator?”

“Say what? Feng Mu is… We might just win this now!” A Formation Sect disciple enthused.

Zhuge Xiaosheng looked to Lu Deyi for answers. Lu Deyi’s gaping jaw and rapid blinks were an answer but not the sort of answer Zhuge Xiaosheng was hoping for.

I don’t know why you’ve been hiding your cultivation, but I hope you win this match for us, prayed Zhuge Xiaosheng.

Snap! Mu Yu bludgeoned Ling Zheng’s chest with a palm strike after snapping the latter’s sword, vanquishing the clone.

“Maintaining a Golden Core Realm cultivation doesn’t mean my cultivation is at Golden Core Realm.” Mu Yu swept his eyes over the remaining Ling Zhengs and continued, “Talisman Shadow Clone may be a formidable technique, but the drawback is that your strength is split. I’d applaud you if you still have a quarter of your full strength considering the number of clones you’ve produced.”

“This is a surprise,” – Ling Zheng raised his volume – “but I can still defeat you with a quarter of my full strength.”

“Cool. Nice to know.”

Mu Yu drew Shadow Splitter Sword and activated a formation to send his sword into a void.

Is it just my imagination, or am I inside a sword qi domain? Ling Zheng mused.
