Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 463

Contiguous Horizon

“You think labelling Ji Wenkai one of us makes him one of us?”

“I don’t care either way. In fact, I couldn’t care less if pigs were the ones directing him. We aren’t fighting for pigs or their buddies, are we?”

“An unbridled mouth is the root of one’s trouble.”

Ling Zheng summoned eight purple talismans criss-crossing over each other and morphed the spiritual qi into a sword.

“Rank sixty-seven on Ultimate Immortals Ranking, yeah?” Mu Yu indifferently queried as he watched Ling Zheng’s sword close in.

“Ask the king of hell,” answered Ling Zheng, wearing a distorted smile.

“What’s Feng Mu doing? Why isn’t he moving?”

“Come on. Come on. Move, damn it!”

Formation Sect’s disciples gripped their clothing with perspiring hands.

“Talisman Sect’s ultimate immortal doesn’t impress me,” Mu Yu remarked.

“I’d like to see you run your mouth after I impale you!” Ling Zheng’s sword crept closer… and closer… and closer…

The two of them weren’t far away from each other. Ling Zheng’s sword was visibly inching closer and closer at high velocity. Even a Qi Condensation Realm cultivator would’ve plunged his sword through Mu Yu already, yet Ling Zheng’s sword wouldn’t reach Mu Yu by the time the audience’s hunger for air forced them to gasp.

“Your swordplay is lame,” commented Mu Yu.

“Wait… Has he cast ‘Contiguous Horizon’?” Zhuge Xiaosheng realised. “Goodness gracious…”

Contiguous Horizon was one of the ten Greater Heaven Stage formation techniques that Chen Tiandao invented. Contiguous Horizon was a formation used to manipulate space at will that not even Zhuge Xiaosheng was able to master. The formation could be used as a different means to the same ends as void travel. The most difficult part of learning it was deducing the way nature operated.

Mu Yu didn’t understand nature’s magic, but deduction was a strength of his. Leveraging his knowledge of Celestial Staircase and the formation techniques that Chen Tiandao taught him, he figured out how to cast Contiguous Horizon. The drawback to his lacking comprehension was that he could only cast it within an area of ten square metres around him unlike Chen Tiandao.

Besides some of Chen Tiandao’s formations being beyond what others could fathom, application was also crucial in turning a drop in his tank of knowledge into lethal weapons.

What formation is this? Ling Zheng wondered, starting to panic.

“Elder Chen Tiandao told me your talisman arts originated from formation arts and is merely compressed into a small talisman. You just obstinately refuse to acknowledge it and covet our sect. I shall do you a favour and school you on formation arts.”

It sounded to Ling Zheng as though he was hearing Mu Yu’s echoing voice from multiple directions afar when the latter was right in front of him, confusing him. Ling Zheng was unable to sense Mu Yu’s aura despite the latter being right in his sights.

“Your cheap tricks won’t save you!”

Ling Zheng summoned enough talismans to cover the entire arena. Though they seemed to be in disarray, they didn’t get in each other’s way. Once he lined them up, he spawned small swords from the talismans as if the talismans were bows.

Demon Sword Dance Talisman, name derived from the flying swords, was Ling Zheng’s signature talisman technique. The reason he was ranked higher than Mu Chenghong was likely due to his ability to use a sword talisman, which was just as challenging as sword formations.

“Impressive. He should be able to crack the top fifty of Ultimate Immortals Ranking sometime soon with his mastery of his sword talisman,” Chang Tianchen remarked and proudly bobbed his head, confident Demon Sword Dance Talisman could nullify Mu Yu’s So Far Yet So Close Formation.

“Since when did Ling Zheng learn such an advanced sword talisman?” Zhuge Xiaosheng clutched his armrests and dug his feet to propel himself to Mu Yu the moment it was necessary.

Snapping everyone out of their dumbstruck daze was Mu Yu’s, “You want to flaunt swordplay in my presence?”
