Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 537

A Huge Crowd

The dome above Clearwater City was always a cosy blue and free of sandstorms thanks to the protective formation and desert poplars growing on walls that kept the sand from the desert invading the city interior. The weather was warm all year round irrespective of seasons. It, therefore, was easy to see why cultivators didn’t like to burn and melt themselves out in the desert. For the first time in the city’s history, the interior was borderline empty because all of the cultivators were out in the desert to spectate the three-way scrap at Rock of Death.

The fact that the red Rock of Death still stood despite its depilated shape proved its stout attribute. It was said that there was no guarantee a cultivator could brand it with their mark.

None of the contestants had shown up, yet over two hundred thousand folks were already in attendance. It was difficult to get a good view of the fight even from the air due to the audience numbers in attendance.

To overcome the issue and help cultivators who hadn’t reached Body Severing Realm get a seat, Formation Sect’s team in the city had to utilise light to cast the Heaven Stage formation, Mirage Formation, to allow the audience to view the action from twenty screens in twenty separate locations throughout the desert. Mathematically, that averaged out to roughly ten thousand people watching one screen. In reality, they were close enough to feel the impact of the fight, so having a screen to watch from a distance was just a bonus luxury. On a side note, they could trap people inside Mirage Formation for eternity if they wanted to harm anyone.

After paying a hundred spirit stones as a fee, Formation Sect would plant a formation in their eyes so that they could view the fight through the screens. It was a lucrative job for Formation Sect since only about ten thousand cultivators were strong enough to watch the fight in the flesh – the shockwaves and similar consequences of watching the fight up close were too much for some to handle.

“Come on, Mu Yu, where in the world are you?!”Lu Deyi couldn’t stop looking around.

“Is there still no news of Mu Yu?” Situ Yangtian asked.

“I wish there was. I shouldn’t have agreed to his plan.”

Mu Tianhe and Mu Zhexing were the only members of Mu Clan in the desert. Situ Yangtian cast a small-scale Mirage Formation on Mu Estate for everyone else in Mu Clan to watch from home due to the potential threat they exposed themselves to in the desert.

“Where is Cai Lie?” Lu Deyi inquired.

“He mentioned going to ask his elder brother, Xing Gao, about the eight great sects’ plans,” Mu Zhexing answered.

“Let us head to Rock of Death. Sikong Qiwen and Tian Budai should be there soon. Stay close behind us,” Lu Deyi told Mu Tianhe and Mu Zhexing.

“Thank you, Greater Heaven Caster Lu, Greater Heaven Caster Situ,” thanked Mu Tianhe.

Lu Deyi cast an illusion formation on Mu Tianhe and Mu Zhexing so that people in the desert wouldn’t recognise them. Since the two were Spirit Severing Realm cultivators, they were granted seats at Rock of Death, which was why they brought the two Mu Clan members with them.

The sand around Rock of Death swirled as per usual, appearing as though it’d bury anyone who set foot in its territory. Some claim they’d seen bones revealed under the skin sometimes. The audience in the area were categorised according to their cultivation, with the one hundred Spirit Severing Realm adults being closest to the action.

Folks were especially curious to see Sikong Qiwen in action for they had heard rumours of his prowess, but few had actually seen him in action. In addition, they hoped to get a glimpse of the secret that propelled him through realms so fast.

It was hard to find someone who didn’t know about Tian Budai because even his profile was readily available for purchase.

Most of the audience already told themselves that Mu Yu walked away from the fight – if they didn’t assume Qing Ming already harvested his head.

Zoom! Sikong Qiwen appeared on the peak of Rock of Death in his white robe and brandishing a sword that put people at sword’s length. He kept his eyes shut and patiently awaited his opponents’ arrival.

Tian Budai showed up on a rock opposite Sikong Qiwen approximately fifteen minutes after the latter appeared, sporting his usual smile. Unlike Sikong Qiwen, Tian Budai kept a lid on his energy, staying in his cultured-gentleman character.
