Cai Lie’s name and information rang a bell for those present.
Mu Tianhe bowed back. “Ar-are you two sure you have the right person?”
“Elder Mu, as you are Junior Brother Mu Yu’s grandpa, you are also my elder. I apologise for not having a gift for our first meeting. To make up for it, I shall gift you any pill you desire – except, I cannot give you pills above rank five.”
“R-rank five?”
Until then, rank four pills were seldom even linked to Clearwater City. To be precise, there were plenty of rank six pills in the city already; nobody knew Mu Yu was in possession of them, though.
“These three are rank five spirit restoring pills. These two are rank five prolonged life pills. These seven are rank five genesis qi collections pills. I apologise for the menial gift,” described Cai Lie, as he handed Mu Tianhe three bottles.
“F-for me?”
Someone muttered to himself, “Damn, I’d cop all of the comments Sikong Gaoming made if I was paid twelve rank five pills!”
“I apologise, Elder Mu, but it is all I can give you for now. I will gift you a few rank six pills in the future.”
“Alch-Alchemist Cai Lie, th-this is too much.”
“Do not mind it, Elder Mu. I was just passing by for some entertainment. Hey, what? Mu Yu’s odds are crazy. I’m not joining the idiots. One million says Mu Yu wins.”
In one motion, Cai Lie hurled his jade piece from Million Company into Mu Yu’s transparent pillar and flicked a droplet of blood in.
“I shall also bet a million on Young Master Mu Yu,” declared Lu Deyi, following suit.
Aside from betting on who would win the three-way contest, people could also bet on individual matchups. As an example, they could bet on who’d win between Mu Yu and Tian Budai. Other betting alternatives included, would there be any killing, how long so and so match would go for, who’d win two matches, who’d win one match and many more. Of course, each different bet meant a separate contract and formation. Du Biying came up with the business model to ensure they would never suffer a loss regardless of who walked away the victor.
Cai Lie went ahead and betted on Mu Yu winning in every scenario, putting down another million.
“Done. Elder Mu, can I pay your estate a visit to catch up with Mu Yu? That two million will become twenty million while I sleep.”
“Of course, we could not ask for anything more than for you to visit,” replied Mu Tianhe, making an invitational hand gesture.
Mu Tianhe didn’t figuratively lift his chin just because he had an alchemist and Spirit Severing Realm cultivator show him respect for he understood their respect for him was an indirect product of their respect for Mu Yu.
Mu Tianhe followed behind Lu Deyi and a yawning Cai Lie. Mu Yu hung around for a while just to relish Sikong Gaoming’s reaction before catching up.
Mu Tianhe led their two guests into their estate and asked them to wait inside while he went to give Mu Yu a holler. Servants immediately served up tea, while Uncle Mu went to fetch Mu Yu.
“Don’t worry about, Grandpa. I’m back, hahaha,” Mu Yu called, striding through the door to the main hall.
“Mu Yu, one of your guests is a level five alchemist, and the other is a Spirit Severing Realm cultivator. You should not keep them wait-”
“Don’t worry, Grandpa, we’re all friends,” Mu Yu assured, then walking over to give Cai Lie a big hug.
“I was wondering where you’d been the past year! You’re back with your family, huh?” Cai Lie remarked.
Mu Yu shrugged. “Grandpa, this is Pill Cauldron Sect’s Cai Lie, Alchemist Yao Wuji’s prized pupil. This is Formation Sect’s Greater Heaven Caster Lu, Lu Deyi. You should introduce yourselves.”
“It is an honour to meet you, Elder Mu. Mu Yu asked me to help you back at Sure-Win Betting. I do apologise if I startle you, hahaha,” said Lu Deyi.
“You really did give this old one a shock,” shared Mu Tianhe, saluting Lu Deyi.
“This one is Pill Cauldron Sect’s Cai Lie. It is my pleasure to meet you, Greater Heaven Caster Lu.”
“The pleasure is all mine, Alchemist Cai Lie.”
“Okay, okay, that’s enough of introductions. Cai Lie, what are you doing here?” Mu Yu inquired, signalling for everyone to sit.
“To find you, obviously. I’m sure everyone caught wind you’re here and set to face off against Tian Budai plus Sikong Qiwen. How could I miss out?” Cai Lie lowered the corners of his lips and questioned, “Are you serious about fighting them?”
“A bit late to be asking that after betting on me, don’t you think? You don’t have confidence in me?”
“I know you’re the miracle creator. With that said, ultimate immortals are ranked for a reason. I’m honestly worried somewhat.”
“I agree with Alchemist Cai Lie. How confident are you that you can beat them? There’s always next time, so pull out if you must,” explicated Mu Tianhe.
“Worry not. Mu Yu will not necessarily lose to them,” opined Lu Deyi, knowing Mu Yu’s new repertoire better than anyone present.
“That’s what I’m talking about,” Mu Yu responded.
“More importantly, you have to be careful of those in the shadows,” Lu Deyi added.
“Who? The eight great sects?” queried Mu Yu.
“No, people with too much time on their hands.”
“I am officially even more confused now,” Mu Yu replied.
