Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 487

Some People and Some Things

Mu Yu was just your run-of-the-mill formation caster without Formation Palace. Hence, his priority was to advance his formation. Even as patriarch, Zhuge Xiaosheng still took charge of all the logistics. Until he was a more advanced cultivator, Zhuge Xiaosheng was needed to grow Formation Sect.

Despite how vaunted Primordial Yin Yang was, Nine Heavens Demon Sealing Formation, Celestial Prison, Fingertip Flowing Water and Heaven-Shrouding Bloody Guardians were a few of the many formations it couldn’t do anything about due to their formation foundations being rather unique.

Zhuge Xiaosheng escorted Chang Tiancheng to Talisman Sect and executed the latter in the presence of his former members. Defeated, some talisman masters committed suicide, refusing to surrender, while everyone else joined Formation Sect. As for Zhou Jinglin, Lu Deyi opted to put the latter under his control using Divine Soul Formation to give Zhou Jinglin a taste of his own medicine.

“I bet you made me do humiliating things when you had me under your control. This is payback. When I inspect the latrine, I expect it to be spanking, or I’ll have you lick it clean,” Lu Deyi aggressed.

Although livid, Zhou Jinglin had to swallow his pride. “I swear to the heavens that I never made you do anything that’d tarnish your name.”

“That better be the case. Otherwise, I’ll stick you in the latrine. Now, get to work if you don’t want to die.” Lu Deyi booted Zhou Jinglin.

“Greater Heaven Caster Lu, you sure seem to have a lot of spare time on your hands,” Mu Yu teased.

Accompanying a wrathful glare, Lu Deyi signalled for Zhou Jinglin to run along. Tone proud, Lu Deyi said to Mu Yu, “Patriarch, once we recover, I will have him join me in resigning with the clients he stole. That is why I am keeping him alive. To add, there is no denying his competence. We need able hands if we are to return Formation and Talisman Sect to its former glory. His connections with various sects will come in handy.”

“Suit yourself. You need to stop calling me ‘Patriarch’, though. You can call me that when my cultivation is actually worth mentioning.”

“Sure. Did you come here to see me for something?”

“I came to bid goodbye. I need to get going.”

“Where to? We cannot let you venture out there alone. What are we going to do if mishap befalls our future patriarch?”

“I am a grown up. If you ask me, staying here is the bigger problem. With the way you are all pampering me, I will become complacent and lack the instincts to handle crises. Complacency kills.”

Lu Deyi couldn’t argue there, but he was still worried. “How about I join you? I can accompany you as your servant, coach or slave. How can a patriarch not have an attendant with me?”

Touched, yet surprised, Mu Yu argued, “Do you not think I am telling people that I bury talent if I make you my attendant? You should stay here and watch over Formation Sect for me. If I return to see the disciples have not improved and the sect is still lax as before, I will mete out punishment.”

“I promise to not disappoint you.”

“Greater Heaven Caster Lu, my name is actually Mu Yu, not Feng Mu.”

“Mu Yu? Your name is the same as Sword Shadow Dust Gale’s disciple?” Lu Deyi’s stopped his hand as he reached for his beard. “D-d-don’t tell me y-”

“Correct, I am the suave, handsome, gentlemen that history has never seen and the future will never see again.”

“Y-you are True God’s disciple?”

“Yes, I am. I came here merely to aid Elder Chen. My shifu and Elder Chen are old friends, so I had to give him a hand,” Mu Yu expounded with a smile.

Lu Deyi probably didn’t realise his mouth was agape the entire time Mu Yu spoke. Done processing, Lu Deyi inquired, “D-does Patriarch know?”

“Patriarch and Elder Chen both know. Keep the secret for me.” Mu Yu held a finger up to his lips.

On his way out of Formation Sect, Mu Yu bumped into a young man who had been waiting for him. Mu Chenghong regarded Mu Yu with a smile. “You told me you haven’t seen the third formation tablet.”

“You didn’t tell me you already made up your mind, either,” Mu Yu ribbed back in jest.

The third formation tablet was a sparring match between Greater Heaven Stage disciples, something few were aware of. Since Mu Chenghong was the only Greater Heaven Stage disciple, they would be matched up against him. Besides installing a mental mark in the tablet, he also hid a clue that only Mu Yu picked up. Only Mu Yu could see the clue for Mu Chenghong set it up so that only someone as devoted to protecting Formation Sect as he was could see it.

Mu Yu learnt Situ Yangtian wasn’t a spy thanks to the clue Mu Chenghong left behind. Neither Situ Yangtian nor Mu Chenghong knew who the spy was. Theypinned Lu Deyi as the number-one suspect, but they had no evidence. That was how the scheme became Mu Yu leveraging Talisman Sect’s plan against them, only for Talisman Sect to turn it back on Mu Yu, only for Mu Yu to then reverse it again.

Mu Chenghong radiated as he asked, “How important do you think decisions are?”

Mu Yu reciprocated the smile. “I was taught to follow my conscience. He told me to do what I believed was right and not to do it if it didn’t align with your conscience.”

Mu Chenghong set his gaze on the cloud-dappled sky and commented, “He’s a wise one.”

“Protect your favourite Formation Sect. I’m out.”

Mu Yu also peered into the sky, lamenting to himself, If only I could be as free as the clouds… Man, I miss those days back at Mount Dustfallen with everyone. Sadly, it’s a luxury I’ll never have again.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but Feng Mu isn’t your real name, is it?”

“It’s Mu Yu,” Mu Yu answered and flew off.

“Mu Yu… True God’s disciple?” Mu Chenghong smiled to himself.

Mu Chenghong strolled to the highest mountain of Formation Sect and spread his arms, inhaling the refreshing breeze. “There really is nothing like embracing home.”
