The Art of Balance
Chang Tiancheng swivelled his neck and peered through the void to where he was before to see eighty-one characters still entwining around Mu Yu. He gave Mu Yu a derisive smirk and teased, “I forgot about you, pitiful worm. I suppose that’s what happens to unimportant worms.”
“Poor you, indeed.”
Mu Yu’s nonchalant shrug and cocky tone despite not having solved a single character got on Chang Tiancheng’s nerves. It was the same feeling as winning, yet the win wasn’t acknowledged.
“As the reigning master of Primordial Yin Yang, I have a duty to get rid of you!” Chang Tiancheng generated a python and tried to get Mu Yu again. “Dodge this!”
Mu Yu didn’t lift a muscle, yet the text around him came to life and flicked the python aside.
“Why is the text protecting you when I’m Primordial Yin Yang’s master?” Chang Tiancheng could still control Primordial Yin Yang; there was no doubt there.
“Do you know what this black and white qi represents? It represents the balance between life and death. All things in the universe counter each other. Life exists thanks to balance, and balance comes from things keeping each other in check.
“The black and white represent the yin yang symbol. The Taiji (the two opposing forces in embryonic form) produces two forms, named yin-yang, which are called Liangyi (the manifested opposing forces). These two forms produce four phenomena: lesser yin, greater yin, lesser yang and greater yang. The four phenomena act on the eight trigrams. The eight trigrams are the basis for all formation and talisman skills.
“Once you were acknowledged, you were empowered with the right to control all eight trigrams’ related techniques. Sadly for you, you forgot that balance is the most powerful force in existence.”
“Sure, I don’t know what balance you’re talking about, but I know I have everything once I have Primordial Yin Yang. All formation casters and talisman masters are at my beck and call now. Those who oppose me shall go down!”
“Entertain me, and see if you can kill our patriarch.”
Chang Tiancheng turned his attention back to Zhuge Xiaosheng and tried to kill the latter just as he was amidst carrying out, yet an unknown spiritual energy repelled his Primordial Yin Yang. He pulled his brows together and turned back to discover the formation inside him had been resealed. Formation Sect’s disciples regained their ability to cast formations, while Talisman Sect’s disciples’ abilities were sealed.
“What have you done? Why do you have control over Primordial Yin Yang?! Stop! I’m Primordial Yin Yang’s master! Stop!”
Mu Yu migrated Primordial Yin Yang’s authority to himself and questioned, “Did you seriously believe you needed to understand the eighty-one characters to control Primordial Yin Yang?”
“Am I wrong?!”
“Fatally wrong. You categorised the characters. What even went through your head when you decided to replace everything in the world with one category? The trick to controlling Primordial Yin Yang is grasping the concept of balance. Balance doesn’t exist purely in objects but also your mind. Only once you can achieve balance in your mind can you qualify to control it. Too bad for you, it’s a concept that will forever elude you,” Mu Yu expounded, shaking his head mockingly.
When Feng Haochen said, “Don’t be concerned with right and wrong when choosing a course of action. Instead, take the path that allows you to answer to your conscience,” he was teaching his disciples “balance”. “Balance” didn’t require acknowledgement from others. Going against your conscience was betraying “balance”. “Balance” required “attitude” and “actions” to align. Accordingly, Primordial Yin Yang chose Mu Yu once he found his balance as opposed to Chang Tiancheng, who knew he was pulling wool over his conscience’s eyes.
Mu Yu perceived the eighty-one characters to be a world. You could conjure anything, and there’d be something to counter it, thereby creating balance.
Mu Yu and Chang Tiancheng were back to the eight trigrams diagram once the black and white qi disseminated. Chang Tiancheng was huffing out of his nose and clamping his teeth together.
“Give Primordial Yin Yang back!”
Chang Tiancheng’s lunge was short lived for the diagram brushed him aside. His chest wound started oozing blood again after taking impact. All of his means of combat had been stripped, leaving him helpless.
“I’m Primordial Yin Yang’s true master!” Chang Tiancheng hauled his body along the ground toward Mu Yu, but his wound cut his efforts short.
“I did say, ‘Poor you’.”
Mu Yu shook his head and evaporated the ultimate immortal crest on his right wrist. “I’m not the patriarch of Formation and Talisman Sect. You have no right to identify me according to your desire.”
“You can get the hell off my turf.”
Mu Yu activated the Primordial Yin Yang in him and fired a blast at Bai Jie. Bai Jie, of course, wasn’t so easy to pick off.
“I ought to give you more credit, Chen Tiandao.” Bai Jie departed from Formation Sect via teleportation with half of the control rights to Celestial Prison.
Mu Yu couldn’t do anything more to Bai Jie since he couldn’t carry Formation Palace out of Formation Sect. Hence, he dragged Chan Tiancheng by his collar and dropped him before the masses. “Now, all that’s left is you pesky Talisman Sect mongrels. Patriarch, you can do as you see fit with them. They are completely defenceless now.”
Zhuge Xiaosheng crawled to his feet. He regarded Mu Yu with gratitude, then turned to Talisman Sect’s people and whipped his hand down. “Kill them!”
Formation Sect’s disciples, even those wounded, stalked their defenceless opponents and savagely tore them asunder.
“Well, I shall wait on you, then, Celestial Star Sect.”
Celestial Star Sect’s members were freed when Mu Yu defeated Chang Tiancheng, and their leaders were stronger than Mu Yu. Nonetheless, Mu Yu wasn’t the only person after them. To that end, Tian Haihua commanded, “Celestial Star Sect, retreat!”
Two Body Synthesis Realm cultivators versus five Body Synthesis formation casters, it wasn’t hard to tell who had the odds stacked against them.
“Like hell I’ll just let you walk off. Patriarch, I need a hand.”
Mu Yu used Primordial Yin Yang to forcibly pull Zhuge Xiaosheng over to him. Mu Yu drew a formation in the palm of his hand and plugged ten rank seven explosion pills into the formation. Zhuge Xiaosheng watched on in awe and confusion as he watched Mu Yu pull off the unspeakable.
