Ambition Exposed
“Talisman techniques are the best techniques in existence. All talisman masters should be respected. I shall build a new talisman technique world. I now control Primordial Yin Yang and am the official patriarch of Formation and Talisman Sect. By the same account, Formation and Talisman Sect needs a new name.” Chang Tiancheng made sure to spare Zhuge Xiaosheng’s scowl a glance and continued, “Talisman masters have always been Third Continent’s strongest cultivators. Formation masters can’t keep up with the times and, therefore, should sink into history. From toward onward, there will be no more Formation and Talisman Sect or Formation Sect. There will only be Talisman Sect. There will no longer be eight great sects but nine great sects, and the ninth lauded sect shall be Talisman Sect!”
Initiating a united salute, Zhou Jinglin cried, “Love live Talisman Sect’s patriarch!”
Formation Sect’s members adamantly refused to submit even though their fighting abilities had been locked away. Talisman Sect, of course, didn’t kneel. Tian Haihua, in a warning tone, said, “Chang Tiancheng, I do believe you don’t have any say in who will be Formation and Talisman Sect’s patriarch.”
Celestial Star Sect didn’t contribute much – in the form of murder at Formation Sect – prior to Chang Tiancheng controlling Primordial Yin Yang.
Chang Tiancheng teleported from the sky into Tian Haihua’s face and sneered. “Who do you think you are to even speak to me?”
“Chang Tiancheng, watch your mouth!”
Before Tian Haihua or Tian Guangju could make a move, Chang Tiancheng locked everyone from Celestial Star Sect in a black and white cage. “I’m Talisman Sect’s patriarch. I’m on equal footing with your patriarch. Don’t you dare interrupt me when I’m speaking.”
Tian Juguang pulled Tian Haihua back when the latter tried to bite back. Tian Juguang sarcastically conveyed, “Well, congratulations, Patriarch.”
Chang Tiancheng huffed. “You tyrants think I’d bow my head to you? Once I’m done culling Formation Sect’s vermin, I’ll purge you next!”
Cheng Tiancheng detained the seventeen surviving Greater Heaven casters using spiritual energy and elevated them into the air. Voice full of contempt, he remarked, “Staunch, are we?”
Seething, Zhuge Xiaosheng inquired between his teeth, “Where’s Feng Mu?”
“Killed him.”
Ptoo! Lu Deyi tried spitting in Chang Tiancheng’s face to mask his fear and denial.
“Hahaha, what did you expect when he was in way over his head? Zhuge Xiaosheng, I’ll admit your formations are worthy of my admiration. You’ve taken more lives than I ever anticipated today. No matter. Sacrifice is necessary for greatness. I value talent. Bend the knee and pledge fealty to me if you wish to live.”
“You’ll spare me?”
“You heard me. Talent is meant to be used, not buried. Offer Talisman Sect your loyalty. In exchange, I shall grant you unprecedented prestige.”
Manpower was necessary for development and expansion. Adding of the seventeen Greater Heaven Stage formation casters would be adding multiple elites to their ranks. Frankly, they were a necessary addition if Talisman Sect was to actually be legitimatised as one of the great sects.
Two loyal men just gave their lives for Formation Sect, and he wants me to now submit? How would I face them when I meet them on the other side? Once we kneel, we’ll never stand again. He expects me to believe him when he didn’t hesitate to betray spies who risked their lives for him? He’ll off us as soon as he’s consolidated his reign, Zhuge Xiaosheng thought. He looked back to Chang Tiancheng and declared, “Every one of us formation casters would rather die standing than live on our knees. If you want me head, come and get it. If you want me on my knees, go hit your pillow!”
“You all agree with him?”
“You heard him loud and clear!” Lu Deyi thundered.
Chang Tiancheng ran his eyes over them and spotted Mu Chenghong at the end. He pulled Mu Chenghong in and, surprisingly genuinely, stated, “Mu Guang, you were my favourite disciple. It’s a pity you chose to veer off track.”
“My name is Mu Chenghong.”
“You were a disciple of Talisman Sect. I know young people can be impulsive. I can forgive you for killing Mo Ziming because your talent eclipses his and rank higher than him on Ultimate Immortals Ranking. Now that he and Ling Zheng are gone, I will forgive you for all of your treasonous acts as long as you return to us.”
“I was a disciple of Formation Sect, still am and always will be.”
Noticing the disdainful and intrepid visages, Chang Tiancheng asserted, “Since you all persistent and blind, I shall use your lives to establish my authority. I shall start with… you, Zhuge Xiaosheng.”
Zhuge Xiaosheng’s valiant countenance turned into a grimace, blood seemingly flooding into his head. His body expanded as Chang Tiancheng activated a formation Primordial Yin Yang planted inside him. The formations spreading over Zhuge Xiaosheng’ s body was a clear giveaway that he was on the verge of exploding. Despair seized Formation Sect’s disciples, but…
“Chang Tiancheng, shouldn’t you start your massacre with me?”
Mu Yu’s tone resembled Tian Budai’s usual laid-back tone, yet it rekindled the waning flame of hope in Formation Sect once again.
