Supreme Swordsman of the Nine Heavens – Ch. 456

Led By the Nose

The exciting contest failed to excite Mu Yu for his attention was focused on Situ Yangtian and Mu Chenghong. Suddenly, Mu Chenghong approached him and asked with a smile, “Junior Brother, what do you think the chances of us winning this year are?”

“What do you think, Senior Brother?” Mu Yu asked back, shifting his eyes from Mu Chenghong to the competitors.

“With you competing this year, I believe we have considerably higher chances.

“You flatter me. You sound confident you will win.”

“I will do my best.” Appearing hesitant, Mu Chenghong questioned, “Have you seen the third formation tablet?”

“No, I haven’t been in the mood to.”

With a soft sigh, Mu Chenghong responded, “Understood.”

Shaking his head as if he heard the last thing he wanted to hear, he turned his attention back to the match.

The fixed matched continued, with Talisman Sect unable to wipe their smirks off their face and Formation Sect cheering for their so-called martial brother. To Mu Yu’s surprise, Sun Yingda’s victory had Formation Sect erupt into cheers.

Unable to comprehend the decision to throw the match to Sun Yingda, Mu Yu looked between Formation Sect’s members and Talisman Sect’s simpers. The answer was simple: before you drop someone, lift him up. Feed Formation Sect hope, and then deliver a crushing defeat. Finally, spill the truth to kick the downed man to prove that they could crush Formation Sect whenever they pleased. It was no longer a tournament but an annihilation.

Cheer. Cheer with every ounce of energy you have. I can’t wait to pull you down to hell when you’ve finally reached heaven’s door! Chang Tiancheng thought, grinning.

Is this what Mu Chenghong meant when he referred to the chance of winning? Mu Yu wondered, realising what Talisman Sect was playing at. “Ruthlessness must run in their blood.”

Luo Feilong took to the ring in the second round and made short work of his opponent. Assuming a proud pose in front of his “cohorts”, Formation Sect burst into applause and cheers once again. Those who knew what was going on heard the cheers as ridicule, however. It was torture to Zhuge Xiaosheng, who had to feign ignorance.

Due to a lack of Greater Heaven Stage disciples, Song Qingyu, a Heaven Stage disciple was sent in for the third round against Ultimate Immortals Ranking’s rank seventy-five, Jiang Xiangdi.

“Formation Sect’s Song Qingyu.”

“You’re not qualified to know my name.”

Song Qingyu, as much as he hated to admit it, was aware he was going to lose. Despite that, he was determined to lose with dignity. As such, he went out of his way to prepare Greater Heaven Stage formation foundations.

Jiang Xiangdi’s red energy covered her entire body. Using her talismans, she lightened her body to fly toward Song Qingyu.

In response, he discharged energy from his hovering Greater Heaven Stage formation foundation beside him. Seven lightning bolts assumed a Big Dipper Star, while dark clouds shrouded the arena. Seven Stars Heavenly Lightning was Song Qingyu’s best formation, and he had boosted it from a Heaven Stage formation to a Greater Heaven Stage formation thanks to his new formation foundations and Greater Heaven Caster Lu’s pointers.

Boom! The first lightning bolt forked into the ground. Though it didn’t hit Jiang Xiangdi, the force of the quaking ground and shockwave was enough to blow her back.

A smile came to Song Qingyu since he managed to cut off Jiang Xiangdi advance; he believed it was an indication that his opponent couldn’t trade with him. Riding his wave of momentum, he fired his second shot. To his surprise, she didn’t move. Instead, she showed a corner of her pearly whites and casually poked the air. A barrage of talismans flitted across and into oblivion. When the bolt closed in, it disappeared.

Song Qingyu swiftly pivoted around when a hunch came to mind. He had no time to show surprise for his lightning bolt zapped him before he could!

“Seven Stars Heavenly Lightning? Were you mocking me?” Jiang Xiangdi fired talismans at the remaining five lightning bolts.

By the time Song Qingyu recovered, he discovered he no longer had control over his lightning bolts. He desperately tried to escape the incoming blast. Alas, the first bolt that zapped him took its toll. Unable to move at his usual speed, the third lightning bolt smashed straight into him, blasting him out of the ring.

Jiang Xiangdi, who took control of Song Qingyu’s lightning bolts, teleported behind him to boot him back into the ring. She proceeded to slam him with the remaining lightning bolts and kept going even when he looked overcooked.

“Enough! We admit defeat in this round!” Zhuge Xiaosheng exclaimed.

“That is not in the rules,” contested Chang Tiancheng, not even trying to hide his glee. “A loss is only declared when one is ringed out or unable to use another skill. Your disciple’s technique is still in effect. I think it is best for us to stick to the rules.”
