Darkness VS Light
Mu Yu’s black qi and white qi gushed forth from his dantian to treat the damage inflicted, but Qing Ming’s Shadow Blade continued to absorb the two types of qi.
“Yeah right.” Mu Yu activated a green formation in his hand.
“Xiaoshuai’s Heavenly Lightning Strike!”
Xiaoshuai swung his colossal lightning sword, dispersing the pasqueflowers and continuing the swing toward Qing Ming. Qing Ming vanished away. Xiaoshuai put one arm on his hips and raised his sword in his other hand, swinging it with finger commands.
Mu Yu used a formation to propel himself out of the hole he was in.
Qing Ming reappeared not too far away and commented, “The rumours about you are true. That’s a first.”
Mu Yu’s chest wound had healed, but he was still breathing harder than at rest.
“Coward, Lord Xiaoshuai here will exorcise you!”
Xiaoshuai slashed twice, lighting the entire desert blue instead of white.
Where there is light, there are shadows, Mu Yu thought as he gazed at the moon. Using Gentle Wind Interlinked Hearts Formation, Mu Yu communicated, “Xiaoshuai, come back.”
Xiaoshuai pouted as he sheathed his colossal sword and hopped back into Mu Yu’s shirt.
Mu Yu performed hand seals, spawning a formation that shrouded the moon with a dark cloud.
“Naïve. Without light, my home ground only expands. Now I have even more freedom.”
As a hunter in the night, Qing Ming’s visual prowess outperformed Mu Yu’s to the point that he could see the latter as if it was daytime.
Mu Yu covered his body in bright light so that there was no darkness immediately around him. Qing Ming shielded himself with a pasqueflower just in time to evade Mu Yu’s torch. Hence, Mu Yu jibed, “You hunters in the night so afraid of light?”
Mu Yu extended the radius of his glow, thereby extending the radius of his formation. As a consequence, the formation erased the shadows the pasqueflowers produced. At the same time, Qing Ming went into hiding, proving Mu Yu’s theory was spot on. As long as Mu Yu was a light, Qing Ming couldn’t get in close to attack
“Where there is light, there is darkness. You’re too naïve if you think you’ve beaten me,” insulted Qing Ming, starting to feel irate.
“Where there is light, there is darkness. I agree.”
Mu Yu slammed his glowing right hand into the sand, erecting a barrier with his right hand as its epicentre, trapping the sixteen pasqueflowers inside the emanating formation. The pasqueflowers futilely banged on the barrier Mu Yu erected.
Mu Yu had Lu Deyi and Situ Yangtian plant formation foundations all over the area and cast dormant formations so that Mu Yu could counter Qing Ming.
“You’re sorely mistaken if you think this barrier can trap me.”
Qing Ming collected his pasqueflowers and leveraged Mu Yu’s glow to create a shadow in order to broach the barrier. He confidently slashed at the barrier but stopped himself when he felt something was amiss. He took out a black piece of cloth and shielded. Had he not shielded himself, Mu Yu would’ve vanquished him the same way the former vanquished the pasqueflowers, getting rid of Qing Ming’s speed advantage.
Essentially, Mu Yu turned the sixteen pasqueflowers into light sources that neutralised Qing Ming’s Shadow Concealment Technique.
“I didn’t know about you being a formation caster.”
Mu Yu cast formations onto the barrier around him, erasing the shadow Qing Ming’s black cloth cast. Where there are shadows, there is darkness. Having said that, a light too bright will erase the shadows.
Qing Ming’s irritation intensified as Mu Yu continued to thwart his strategies one after another, even erasing the shadow hiding his appearance. Even though Qing Ming’s shadow crinkled and shattered, his lanky, ghastly pale body was unscathed.
“You’re the first assassination target to see my true appearance.”
“You’re weak without your shadows, aren’t you?”
“I chose to attack you using shadows because it is my preference, not because I need them.”
Qing Ming summoned two black daggers that he called his Shadow Blades and hurled one at Mu Yu’s barrier, eliminating the light Mu Yu shone. Qing Ming sent his remaining dagger to Mu Yu at an awkward angle. Even though Mu Yu guarded against the dagger, the force behind it was enough to knock Shadow Splitter Sword away. Nonetheless, Mu Yu drew another Shadow Splitter Sword from the void and redirected the dagger’s trajectory.
Mu Yu prepared to turn to Celestial Swords Nine Summons, only for Qing Ming to stop.
“That’s fifteen minutes. I failed. You can have a few more days to live.”
“You not going to kill me?” Mu Yu taunted.
“Tian Budai will kill you for me. With the eight great sects on his side, you can look forward to a one-sided mauling.”
As Qing Ming walked off, Mu Yu activated a barrier to stop the former and said, “You’re done, but I’m not.”
Why let an enemy escape so that he can come back and threaten you again if you know that he will undoubtedly try again?
