An Eye for an Eye
“Ugh!”
A short burst of raining blood splattered along the ground. Chang Tiancheng sluggishly lowered his head to see Zhou Jinglin’s hand sticking out of his chest. He was so focused on daydreaming about ruling that he paid no attention to his surroundings. Zhou Jinglin’s eyes were triple their usual size as he stared at his right hand.
When Lu Deyi swung his blade toward Mu Yu’s neck, Zhou Jinglin felt tremendous energy gather in his right hand inexplicably and, for another inexplicable reason, impaled Chang Tiancheng from behind. Brain stuttering, his mouth followed along, uttering, “Wh-why?”
Lu Deyi’s hand stopped a mere inch from Mu Yu’s neck. Mu Yu flashed black and white, and he no longer looked ghastly pale. The damaged part of Mu Yu’s chest crumbled similarly to sand. The blood on his clothing whisked away as black and white formation lines.
“I told you I have a gift for acting. I should be award ‘best lead male actor’,” Mu Yu remarked, fixing his collar. He playfully flicked the blade in Lu Deyi’s hand away. “Greater Heaven Caster Lu, your blade is blunt.”
Lu Deyi was overwhelmed with joy. He couldn’t move his body, but he couldn’t help blurted, “Feng Mu, you’re all right!”
“Of course. My neck has been conditioned after so many people have tried the same thing.”
Chang Tiancheng turned and sent Zhou Jinglin off with a palm strike. He shot a black ray into Zhou Jinglin and exclaimed, “Divine Soul Formation?”
Zhou Jinglin was horrified when he saw a formation extracted from him.
“What’s the matter? Never heard of ‘an eye for an eye’? What, you think you’re the only one who can cast Divine Soul Talisman?” Mu Yu jabbed as he patted Lu Deyi’s shoulder.
“How could you have known about Lu Deyi being under our control?! It was flawless! You couldn’t have possibly known he was one of us!” Chang Tiancheng contested.
“Do you honestly think you’re running the show all the time?” Mu Chenghong questioned as he ambled over to join.
“Mu Chenghong?!” Chang Tiancheng scrunched his face. “You should be dead or, at least, dying!”
“You are so caught up in your own world that you lose sight of the details. Formation and Talisman Stone can defuse all formations and talismans. Formation Palace, in contrast, can control all formations and talismans, including Deity Destruction Talisman and Divine Soul Talisman,” Mu Yu enlightened.
“Formation Palace?!” Chang Tiancheng gritted his teeth.
“You heard me. I cast Divine Soul Formation on Zhou Jinglin the moment you two set foot inside Formation Palace, which was as simple as clicking my fingers. As you can see from his face, not even he was aware he was my puppet. The only reason you’re not under my control is attributed to Formation and Talisman Stone. I would’ve had you kill yourself already, otherwise.”
“How did you avoid Lu Deyi’s attack? Your suspect was Situ Yangtian. Why did you put Lu Deyi under your control?”
“Let me guess: Greater Heaven Caster Lu told you I suspect Situ Yangtian? Man, I confirmed Situ Yangtian was innocent ages ago. I doubt Greater Heaven Caster Lu was aware I suspected him.”
“Feng Mu, you suspected me?” Greater Heaven Caster Lu flinched and asked. “How disgraceful for me to be unaware I was made a spy. You should’ve told Patriarch so that he would have killed me.”
“Don’t be so depressing, Greater Heaven Caster Lu. I do not blame you, honest. Talisman Sect likes plays so much, so I had to entertain them. I apologise for keeping you in the dark,” Mu Yu responded with a grin.
“Well played. I hope you don’t think that’s enough to stop me, though. None of your tricks are worth a dime in the face of Formation and Talisman Stone. Now die!”
“Watch out!”
Lu Deyi intercepted Chang Tiancheng’s advance despite him knowing he couldn’t beat the latter in a head-on confrontation.
“Greater Heaven Caster Lu, if you wish to make up for your mistakes, kill Zhou JInglin. I imagine he is the man you want to kill more than any other.” Mu Yu had Lu Deyi confront Zhou Jinglin as he spoke since he was the only one who could counter Formation and Talisman Stone.
“But…” Lu Deyi hesitantly looked back Mu Yu’s way.
Mu Yu had made a retreat, making room for Chang Tiancheng to enter the Eight Trigrams formation.
The Eight Trigrams formation released black and white formation lines upon picking up the trace of Formation and Talisman Stone, trapping the two within.
“Let us kill him together,” Mu Chenghong joined Lu Deyi and proposed.
“Mu Guang, you traitor!” Zhou Jinglin brayed.
None of the three were under anyone’s control anymore.
“My name always was, is and will always be Mu Chenghong.”
“That’s enough talking. He’s lived for more than long enough.”
Zhou Jinglin fled from Formation Palace in case he was victimised again. Lu Deyi immediately deployed Lightning Shadow Swift Snakes to pursue.
Chang Tiancheng spotted the aperture for his Formation and Talisman Stone in the Eight Trigrams Formation. Insert it, and he’d authoritatively wrestle control of Formation palace from Mu Yu and fulfil his goal.
“I need to kill you, lest you get in my way again.” Chang Tiancheng summoned a black talisman and split it with his finger gesture. A black python slithered out of the talisman, shocking with its level seven fiend beast power. “Even if you ascend to Body Synthesis Realm now, you’ll still be no match for me.”
The python hissed and spared no time launching itself at Mu Yu for a bite. Mu Yu treated the attack as child’s play and raised a finger – one finger!
