Best Male Lead Prize
“That’s him, the piece of turd newbie.”
“I heard he pleaded Senior Brothers Luo Felong and Ji Wenkai to back him, but neither of them was interested.”
Mu Yu wasn’t quick to flare up, but the exaggerated and nonsensical rumours being circulated irritated him. Still, he just shook his head and decided to put them in their place if he had spare time on his hands in the future.
“Hey, you the new turd on the block?” a youth twice as wide as Mu Yu hollered, blocking the path. His name was Zhu Caijun, a loyal minion of Luo Feilong.
Mu Yu looked up and asked, “Can I help you?”
“Turds don’t need spirit stones or formation formations. I’ll take care of yours for you.”
Generally speaking, the most common foundation formations were spirit stones. The next one up, which was more expensive, was fiend spirits. Level three fiend beasts’ fiend spirits were most commonly used in Lesser Heaven Stage formations. Level four and five fiend spirits were used for Heaven Stage formation foundations. The purple and gold spirit stones Elder Xun used for his spirit collection formation were for Greater Heaven Stage formation foundations. Ku Mu’s Blood Jade Black Crystal also fell into the same category.
Mu Yu didn’t even see a need for Formation Sect’s spirit stones and formation foundations as Ku Mu left him with a stash. The issue was that he couldn’t stand being bullied anymore. He gave Zhu Caijun a cordial smile and queried, “Why do you want to steal what’s mine?”
Zhu Caijun’s brow raise turned into full-blown hysterical laughter. “Do I need a reason?”
“The only three reasons are you’re despicable and want to take what’s not yours. You’re a simpleton. Or, your parents don’t know how to do their job. What is your reason?”
“I’m…” Zhu Caijun actually took the question serious and contemplated it. By the time his brain cogs had done enough rotations, he snapped, “I’m your master!”
Zhu Caijun tried to administer a Primordial Infant Realm First Layer slap.
“Hey, don’t kill him, or you’ll be in trouble.”
“A piece of turd isn’t very tough, so go easy.”
Zhu Caijun took the reminders to heart and reduced his output but kept enough force to incapacitate Mu Yu for ten days, at the very least.
Mu Yu pretended to frantically raise his guard and caught Zhu Caijun. Zhu Caijun frowned when he couldn’t move his arm. The jet-black energy that came to Mu Yu’s eyes scared Zhu Caijun witless. Mu Yu injected spiritual energy over to Zhu Caijun, knocking the latter out. As Zhu Caijun fell to the ground, Mu Yu lunged out of the way.
“Wh-what just happened?” somebody stuttered.
Mu Yu crawled to his feet and stuttered, “H-hey, does he have high blood pressure or something? He must’ve overdone it when he tried to pull back before he flattened me…”
When someone checked on Zhu Caijun, they discovered his spiritual energy flow was clogged just as Mu Yu suggested. It was a relief to them that Mu Yu wasn’t some monster in human skin.
“D-don’t rob me…” Mu Yu hastily retreated and sped off.
“Ahahahaha, you’re a pretty good actor, Mu Yu,” commented Xiaoshuai.
“What do you expect from the best male lead?” Mu Yu joined Xiaoshuai, laughing, once he confirmed nobody was following him.
“What the heck is best male lead?”
“I don’t know myself. Back at my village, the village chief had someone act out skits to celebrate our harvest. There were always exceptional actors that he’d award ‘best male lead’.” Mu Yu chuckled.
Mu Yu ambled along a mountain path. Some places just resembled flowers and broken rocks. Once disciples were given permission to enter, nevertheless, they would’ve been able to see pavilions and other edifices. In some cases, they might’ve even chanced upon rare beasts.
Formation Sect’s formations and terrain made their sect easy to defend and difficult to take down. Without a Greater Heaven Stage formation caster navigating, invaders wouldn’t have been able to locate Formation Sect’s members. For that reason, they survived after so long despite not recruiting fresh blood.
All disciples of Formation Sect were provided with maps that denoted where they could go within their rank, where formations are set and what sort of formation was set. Most gorges were guarded and required permission to enter, while some were accessible to all. All disciples were also given a token, which was their identification token. The formations automatically used the tokens to refuse passage or grant it. Mu Yu’s token had “Heaven Stage” on it.
Mu Yu found out where the forbidden grounds were but couldn’t enter. He pretended to be lost yesterday and scouted the area; however, the formations kept him away.
Mu Yu hadn’t met any Greater Heaven Stage formation casters in the days he’d been there or any other upper echelon members.
Chen Tiandao’s nickname was Godly Constructor for the various mountain-protection formations he cast across the world of cultivation. If anyone ever got on his bad side, he could’ve invaded their sect as if there was no formation present – not that he could actually do so. Imagine installing doors that you’d break into afterwards. Who’d hire you?
Mu Yu crossed over a mountain. According to the map, Adva was the valley up ahead. It was strictly accessible to Heaven Stage disciples. Lo and behold, a big group of them was entering. As the name suggested, it was where ranking exams took place.
Mu Yu decided to go check out what the fuss was all about.
