Chapter 83
The days passed on by into months as I stayed with Alondra in the Elven Kingdom. We toured many different places and the Elves did not occupy a large portion of land. Many of the elves were centuries old but their population was small because of their very low birth rate.
When compared to humans who could have children very quickly and multiple at a time they were sparse. I thought humans compared to goblins were sorely lacking but this is even worse. The elves were a very stoic people who preferred using straight talk and logic over pretense.
Everyone I encountered would say what they were thinking or even what they were feeling without hiding it. When I asked Alondra she would answer.
Alondra:”The longer you live the less you can deal with bullsh**! Say what you mean and mean what you say. I spent too much time with humans which is why I did the same thing when you first came here.”
It was true. The more open we were with communication and more trusting we were not to misunderstand what was said the easier everything became in terms of harmony. Elves have emotions like humans do, but they don’t let their emotions turn into pretense.
Since they live a long time, there wasn’t a need to try and extract as much as they could from the other person. Human lives were short and so they tried to get ahead by stepping over each other. Elven lives were long and if one opportunity slips by today there would always be another one ten years later. They could wait ten years without problem.
There were a lot of things I learned while with the elves, and I could say there was a certain level of comfort here since I stayed in the palace and the maids listened and did what I asked without issue. I also got to know Dorfus who was Alondra’s mentor before she became the Queen.
Dorfus told me straight that while he was happy seeing Alondra happy, he knew that it meant she was going to leave her post. Also, there was already a successor. Alondra had promised him if they needed help she would return to help the successor because Alondra was the most powerful Elf alive currently.
I slept in her arms every night, and I guess it became a habit for me to drink… milk…
It was soon time for me to go however. I was going to leave to my next destination. If we follow the six month rotation rule then I should be going to see Xeneva but I doubt we would be going back to the village. Also Xeneva already had me for all the years leading up to this point.
Six months however was still a long time and even though every day felt nice there was so much that happened. The days were much more enjoyable than the constant traveling with Sperra. I got to eat good food everyday and there were many magical architectures and sights to see. If it weren’t for the fact that I was human and not an elf, I would have liked to stay here.
Two weeks before my departure time I was still curious as to where I was going to go. I woke up in the morning and found Alondra sleeping next to me, and I decided I needed to ask now.
Roy:”Mom?”
I was rubbing her shoulder to wake her up. When I thought about it, men should not sleep with their mother’s at night but somehow I couldn’t stop. I guess this was going to blur the reality between being parent and child into becoming actual lovers.
Roy:”Mom?”
Alondra rolled over and opened here eyes. She looked sleepy but in an instant she suddenly brightened up and was awake. Magic is very useful.
Alondra:”What’s wrong baby?”
Roy:”I’m here for two more weeks. I want to know where I’m going next.”
Alondra smiled.
Alondra:”The Empire is next for you. Erisu will be here to pick you up.”
Roy:”Erisu? The Empire?”
Erisu coming to get me was nice, but it had been months since I had that strange dream with Anon. I wasn’t sure if it was real or false. I didn’t tell Alondra about it because I didn’t want her to worry and if Anon couldn’t physically come to this world anymore then what was the use in worrying?
He wants power? I’m not going to look for my biological mother so he won’t be able to get it. It doesn’t matter. Even then, it doesn’t seem like he was that powerful… well maybe if he existed in this world he might be considered powerful since he was able to cause my mothers problems.
Alondra:”There is a surprise for you there, well it’s also where Erisu says she would like to live the most since it’s a human country. She grew close with the Empress over those few days.”
Roy:”I see… so is the Empress a nice person?”
Alondra:”The Empress will kill without mercy if someone threatens her or the people around her, but for those who are close to her she is the kindest person you can imagine.”
Roy:”Really? She sounds like someone I would like to get to know.”
Alondra:”It might be better not to get too close with her unless you’re going to go all the way with her.”
Alondra gave a teasing smile as she rubbed my shoulder.
Alondra:”Erisu, Sarai, Mana… the four of us… the Empress would make number eight wouldn’t she? You know she covers her face because of how beautiful she is. If she didn’t cover her face then human nobles will continue to propose to her.”
Roy:”Why don’t they propose to the four of you then?”
Alondra:”We’re not human. Human nobles can’t marry us.”
Alondra laughed.
Alondra:”Thanks to that I don’t have to worry about so many suitors constantly coming after me all the time. The biggest problem with being human is all the pretentious rules of nobility. They still work with us but most want their line and bloodline to be pure, but humans are special because in a short time they can become just as powerful as the rest of us. Their lives are short but their primes come quickly. That’s why humans are the race that drives back the demons more so than the rest of us.”
I had remembered going to the Lizard kingdom as well as several other stranger kingdoms. They had powerful individuals there and all of them had longer lives than humans, however most of them had weaknesses.
The Lizards for instance, if it got too cold they couldn’t operate properly. That’s why they lived in the humid and warm jungles. The Dwarves were small, they also didn’t have a large population due to constant mining accidents and forging problems. Dwarves were also very reckless and didn’t value their lives. There was also the fact they were small and didn’t have much physical ability to move when fighting so ranged attacks could take them out.
Dwarves also had their mages but there were very few. The weather didn’t affect humans as much, and compared to all the other races humans were the best at reproducing.
Roy:”I don’t think I should have more. The seven of you might already be too much for me.”
Alondra:”I’ll make you a libido booster, don’t worry. You can safely take twenty lovers and do it with each one for an hour every day. Take four hours to eat and with the proper potions you’ll be fine.”
Alondra winked.
Roy:”Shut up.”
Alondra giggled.
Alondra:”The Empire is where you’re going to be staying. The Empress is going to remain there during the Demon invasion and Xeneva is going to help set up a place for you to remain safe with some money. Sperra is going to be hunting more of the remnants in this next year of the previous demon invasion while Erisu will continue planning. Dhalia and Xeneva won’t be able to join you because they’re also going to fight the demon invasion on the front lines.”
Roy:”So I might be alone for a year?”
Alondra:”If you want to be, but the Valkyries will be protecting you. If everything goes well then we should be able to beat the demons back to their gateway quickly. We’re making estimates that the invasion will be similar to the last time since the Demon Lord for this invasion survived. Normally they’re killed by the heroine but you know what happened this time when the heroine was impure.”
You can thank Anon for that. With everything going on however I wasn’t sure whether I should be thankful or angry. If he didn’t kill my dad then Alondra would be doing it with dad instead… but without his interference I would probably never been in this world and would have mom and dad with me instead of growing up with my grandparents.
I really didn’t know how I was supposed to feel.
Alondra:”Roy, it’ll be alright. Dhalia can always bring us to visit you if you’re lonely, but it might be better for us to focus on expelling the invasion.”
Roy:”I understand mom.”
