Stepmom-con – Ch. 84

Chapter 84

Xeneva was often away from her work, but her company continued to operate smoothly. She went with Justin, Edna, Arwen and Chrissy to the Beipan Kingdom as it was on the way to the Empire to wait. They had a plan.

The Empire was a place for the three girls to give birth as the four of them decided that it was most suitable for them to live after the Demon Invasion. Unlike the other three, she could continue controlling the company from one place. Riss and Liss had come to her.

Xeneva:”You sure you didn’t want to get pregnant?”

Riss:”Mother, with the invasion coming it’s best for us to stay ready and fight. The other three didn’t really want to be adventurers anymore so it was better for them to come here.”

Xeneva:”I see, so you’ve made your decision?”

Liss:”We want to fight along side you.”

Xeneva:”You both know that war isn’t a game right? There will be many people who die.”

Riss:”Neither of us are going into direct combat but we’ll be escorting goods to the front lines.”

Xeneva smiled.

Xeneva:”Are you getting the other children who’ve worked with us to do it as well.”

Riss:”Mother, they’re not children anymore. They’ve all grown up.”

Xeneva:”They’ll always be children to us, you know that. The other Succubi who work for us will also come and help?”

Liss:”Yes, they’re all loyal to you.”

Xeneva smiled. She looked at both of her daughters who had learned business with her for over a hundred years. They no longer needed to be monitored and while she was taking care of Roy in the village they had expanded the business rather than letting it shrink. They were also good at seeking out talents who were good at creating new things.

Businesses were suppose to live by product improvement and those who can improve products were rare in society.

Xeneva:”You two girls are ready to take over the company and can run it without me. I already have enough savings for several life times and I can just run a small business of selling you items for living expenses.”

Liss:”No mother, I don’t want that.”

Riss:”Stay the head, we’ll just work under you.”

Xeneva:”If I do that then I’m just reaping profit while doing nothing.”

Riss:”We still prefer it this way when you’ve given us everything to grow up and become who we are today.”

Xeneva shook her head.

Xeneva:”Children shouldn’t be servants of the parent. I raised you because I loved you, and now that you’re able to take care of yourself there is no need to take care of me. I’m still young, and besides I have more than enough.”

Liss:”Well, we will keep putting money into an account for you and if you ever want to come back you can take over the business again. We’re family run right?”

Xeneva shook her head. What was she going to do with these girls?

Xeneva:”Did you make deals with the Adventure Guild?”

Riss:”Dhalia is stepping down and has already named her successor. She is planning on leaving the post for good after the demon invasion since she’s planning on fighting on the front lines.”

Xeneva:”She’ll be going with me then along with Sperra and Alondra. Alondra is going to spend the next year preparing as well teaching her successor. You know your mother is still strong, wouldn’t it be better if you both also got pregnant by Justin? I can take care of the business while you’re having children.”

Liss:”No, it’ll be fine. I will ask Aunt Alondra to make an elixir for Justin and the others after the war as well. We’ll have more than enough time for babies then.”

Xeneva:”I see.”

Riss:”Oh mom… I’ve heard the good news about Roy. I hope you find happiness with him.”

Xeneva smiled as she thought about it. Humans were funny with all their rules and morals but Succubi do not have those same inhibitions. If she wanted a man, and the man wanted her it didn’t matter who he was or his status. They would be like two lovers in bed after being away from each other for years.

Erisu arrived along with Arla and all the girls in her party. Over the harsh training most of them were now warriors, they had some talent to begin with and most of them used magic and mana to enhance their abilities.

Almost all nobility had talent of some kind, which is why they thought it best to preserve their blood line.

Arla walked behind the party of three of which Erisu was always in the middle. She had become responsible for the groups luggage, and while she never complained on the outside she despised that one of high birth like her would have to serve another even if that girl was a chosen heroine.

The Princess of the Beipan Kingdom kept her mouth shut and continued to follow as things went on. Thinking that a lowly commoner who didn’t have the talent that would be born of nobles would be wedded to a Heroine even she had to serve… and on top of that a talented Sorceress and Holy Maiden… it’s her brother who was more worthy.

Erisu stopped as they approached the Elven gates and the guard came to greet them.

Guard:”Welcome to the Elven Kingdom Heroine. Our Queen has been waiting for you as well as her son.”

Erisu greeted the guard with a slight bow of a noble and the party was led to the palace. Erisu had already met all of Roy’s mother’s and Alondra had summoned her here to perform an escort mission.

She suspected that it was going to be escorting Roy and Justin along with the three wives Justin had. She understood that they were going to the Rose Empire but wasn’t sure what business Roy had there, however if she could stay for a few days then it would be nice to talk to Roy about settling in the Empire after the demon Invasion.

Erisu had become familiar with the Empress after months spent being trained by her. The other Monarchs and Rulers did not have that closeness with her.

Erisu:”Where is Roy? Is he ready to travel?”

Guard:”That isn’t something I know. Her Highness will know. Please proceed to the palace, we will escort you there.”

Erisu walked through the streets with Mana and Sarai. Mana was familiar with the buildings. She had come to train here as the Elves were the best at magic out of all the races.

Mana:”This place doesn’t look as it has changed at all since I was here a few years ago.”

Sarai:”Did you expect it to change when the elves live much longer? Staying the same gives a more homely feeling.”

Arla followed behind the three overhearing the conversation. She had been following the heroine now for a year and found it difficult to get close to her. The Heroine herself had spent far less time with Roy than the other girls in their party but she only kept herself close to Mana and Sarai. The heroine was a hard nut to crack.

Arla finally decided to ask a question.

Arla:”Heroine, how is it you still love that man despite not seeing much of him.”

Erisu turned to Arla as they continued to walk. Mana and Sarai stopped their conversation and wanted to listen to this. They were wary of Arla even if Erisu was not. The question was legitimate in a way since Erisu was considered engaged but at the same time the only contact she had with him was through letters that often took weeks send between them. Erisu didn’t have a speaking device and even if she did Roy spent most of his free time directing soldiers to attack more monsters.

Erisu was busy and earnestly working towards the defense against the demons. There were many other things in the way as they were also doing research to try and find the summoner of the Silent Soldier Army.

Erisu:”I suppose I just knew.”

Erisu spoke innocently.

Arla:”You just knew?’

Erisu:”I know it’s hard to believe but when I first met him I felt a familiar feeling that I haven’t felt for any others here. Mana and Sarai are considered my sisters but Roy is my destiny.”

Arla felt like throwing up. Destiny? There was no such thing! Since she was born it was already decided who she would be married too. Though the fiance that had been arranged for her had died before she met him, there were still many suitors and after the defense of the continent was done her father was going to betroth her to someone that would further the strength of the alliance. It was yet to be determined who that person would be but the Alliance had grand ambitions beyond the demon invasion.

Arla:”I see heroine. For those like myself we have no belief in destiny and that is why I was wondering. Thank you for answering my curiosity.”

Erisu nodded and they continued walking towards the Palace.  It had been months and she desperately wanted to see Roy. She was blossoming into a woman… or rather she was blossoming more than she already had.
