Stepmom-con – Ch. 114

Chapter 114

Psak tried to help himself up but I kicked his arm and stomped on his leg breaking it. Psak still could use his arms but he no longer had a right leg to pivot off of to use in combat. Combine that with the heroes who had died and the few hundred now who aren’t approaching I can tell they value their lives more than they value the alliance.

Psak:”Attack him! What are you all doing! Attack him!”

The heroes stood back. Attacking me was death. They’d already seen that happen, and based on the numbers on top of their heads they were weaker those I had already killed. This was something they instinctively knew.

Or at least I believed they knew instinctively.

Roy:”They’re afraid for their lives. Would an ant attack a human who can stomp on them? Well, I guess they would and they’d all die under my foot.”

Psak:”You won’t get away with this.”

Some more heroes arrived but they didn’t make a move as they overlooked the scene. With Psak on the ground and a pile of dead bodies behind me it wasn’t as if they could do anything about all of it.

Roy:”You won’t get away with imprisoning me just because the Prince wanted my fiance! You think you can just throw me in prison, cut off my arms and other parts of my body, kill my best friend and the wives of his who would bear his children and I would just cower the rest of my life?”

Actually that’s exactly what I would have done if I didn’t have any power. That’s what most people would do, or I would try to obtain that power and perhaps fail. They made a mistake thinking I didn’t have power.

Mistakes have consequences. That’s why it’s best to be nice to everyone. If you’re not nice to someone and do something evil to them and they have power you’re screwed.

Roy:”Come on! Stand up! Oh wait! You have a broken leg.”

Psak didn’t say much but a voice came out from the crowd as three of them came forward. I recognized those three… Erisu, Mana and Sarai.

Erisu had her sword drawn and moved towards me.

Erisu:”Give up now! A demon invasion is coming within a week and we can’t be fighting each other! We should be uniting to face the evil that’s coming!”

Roy:”Erisu, it’s me.”

Erisu:”You? Who are you?”

Roy:”I’m Roy!”

Erisu:”Really? Take off your helmet and show your face!”

Roy:”I can’t. I can’t right now but it’s me. You shouldn’t be defending these people. I’m going to get my revenge for Justin and what they did to me. I’m not going to stop so please step aside.”

Erisu, Mana and Sarai all stared at me.

Mana:”You’re short but not as short as a dwarf so you stand at the same height as Roy… but Roy isn’t able to do something like this.”

Sarai:”There is a saying in the temple that when someone dies and they are vengeful they can turn into a spirit form and seek vengeance at all costs.”

Roy:”I’m not a friggin’ spirit!”

I changed myself into a fire mage which shocked everyone there and I pushed out flames into the air. I then wrote in Japanese in front of Erisu to strike me down in heroic fashion then meet me outside the camp if she trusts me.

Erisu stared at the words for a moment, it was a language no one there could read and I included her full name and the song she first wrote that wasn’t well known by anyone except her fans.

Erisu: “Drew her sword. I don’t care if you are pretending to be someone I know, anyone who does evil will die!”

Erisu came forward and threw her sword forward and I as the fire mage let myself be cut down. Erisu’s eyes were shocked but as the body disappeared I whispered to her where no one else could hear.

Roy:”Don’t worry, my real body isn’t here. Go out of the city and talk to me.”

The body Roy inhabited faded away as Erisu stood there looking around.

Erisu:”I’ve helped you General Psak, make sure to report my contribution.”

General Psak sat there surprised at what he’d seen but still easing the pain in his broken leg. Erisu killing the person who was easily beating him in an instant wasn’t something he expected and made him a bit more fearful.

Psak: “Yes, Heroine.”

Erisu took off with Mana and Sarai and got out of the city. There were many things on her mind. The soldier himself was about the same height as Roy which would make sense if he wore armor. Roy seeking revenge also made sense, but she didn’t know what else to make of it. She left the city trying to follow the instructions of the words in fire.

Healers came to Psak and made an effort to try and heal the leg. There were many of them who arrived and some of them were from the temple and forced themselves to set their bones.

Psak ordered those who were around.

Psak:”Make a report of this and bring it to his majesty.”

The scribes began taking witness accounts and writing what happened. Psak was unhappy with the events that transpired and the lost prestige he would now suffer as a result. Before he was the warrior who stood against the Empress and her valkyries and now he was the man crippled by a small armored man.

King Bide in his castle received the report and looked it over twice. Angry he questioned the messenger.

King Bide:”Is this the real report made by the scribes of the intruder?”

Messenger:”Yes your majesty. It is accurate and nothing has been altered.”

King Bide looked it over and saw the description of a small soldier coming in and taking on and assaulting Psak then beating up the heroes who were all attacking him at the same time. After that there was the instance of Erisu coming and saving them and the many witnesses who saw that happen.

King Bide sent the messenger away then called a meeting with King Harri and Queen Pelos. They each sat in a small room sealed so that sound could not escape and no words would leave.

King Bide:”The report I had today about the intruder is something I am going to share with the both of you. It is not to leave this meeting.”

King Harri and Queen Pelos looked at each other for a moment and then nodded.

King Bide:”The intruder attacking claimed to be Roy and the person who slayed the intruder was Erisu. Either there is a ploy with the Empress or Erisu is maneuvering to get the forces she needs.”

King Harri:”Why not let those who want to leave voluntarily go?”

King Bide:”No, the Empress must be destroyed as well as the Rose Empire itself.”

King Harri:”We outnumber them, we have more resources than them and the alliance has far more soldiers than they do. When the Empress brought her Valkyries here many of them died, let alone her soldiers who are not as strong as the valkyries it would not do us good to get on the heroine’s bad side.”

King Bide:”The issue isn’t that the heroine has a personality problem but that she won’t marry my son Hunte.”

Queen Pelos:”You’re always going on and no about how your son is smart and incredible and how he does works of art that patrons purchase! Your son plays with the courtesans and impregnates common women before putting them to death! If the Heroine knew about this do you think she would want to be with him?”

King Bide:”Shut your mouth or you will have more to worry about than just my words!”

Queen Pelos became quiet as King Bide threatened her. Her son was going to marry the Princess Arla and secure her Kingdom’s safety within the alliance. The truth was that King Bide had the larger collection of heroes, besides General Psak there were more monsters who worked under him.

Unknown monsters that the world feared.

King Bide: “I will not be going to the council meeting in a few days as I will be paying a public visit to Psak who was wounded in the line of duty. At that time Erisu will come to the council and seek to bring the support that is willing to go with her. You are to stall and prevent that from happening, make up any excuse not to grant her the request. I don’t care what is said.”

The other two heard what King Bide said but were angry that they were relegated to doing the work of a pawn. It was not something they could say on their own but since they joined the Alliance they had to agree with what their positioning required. No, they didn’t want to do it.

King Harri:”So we are nothing but pawns in your alliance now? The Demon invasion is coming and you still want to scheme against the Empire that will be taking the brunt of the demons attacks first?”

King Bide:”It doesn’t matter, the Empire must first be destroyed then we will assemble the most powerful group of heroes under the Heroine and seal the gate.”

King Harri:”What if the demons amass and become too much to handle?”

King Bide:”Why do you feel the demons will be too much to handle? What part of history has there ever been where the demons were not thwarted back in some way? Even five hundred years ago when the heroine was impure they were still beaten back eventually and in these five hundred years we’ve assembled an alliance that goes beyond anything humans had before an invasion in the past.”

King Harri sighed. Queen Pelos said no more.

King Bide:”Then we are in agreement. Make sure the Heroine can’t take anyone with her and try to force her to stay here.”
