Stepmom-con – Ch. 89

Chapter 89

I began to awaken and my head hurt with a dull pounding. I remembered what happened and I found myself in a cage. There were guard all around and I think I understood what was going on.

Politics. That was what was going on. Corrupted people are always trying to centralize their own power. That’s how it always works. You can never trust these bastards.

Erisu had her sword drawn facing up against them. Psak was there but my hands were also bound up. From what I understand if the three of them work together they should be able to free Justin, Me and the three wives Justin had that are being taken into custody.

Erisu:”You’re lying.”

Hunte:”Accusing Royalty of lying is an insult. There is no need for us to lie when we have the authority to make decrees.”

Erisu:”Then why would you take Roy into custody? What’s the reason behind all this? Is it because you’re trying to make me choose to marry into your Royal Family?”

Roy:”Erisu, get me out even if you have to use force. I don’t trust them! They framed me and they’re going to torture me.”

I felt the cage rattle as one of the soldiers smacked it in a threatening manner.

Soldiers:”Silence or I’ll come in there and beat you down!”

Erisu looked over at me then at the Prince looking man again. She seemed to be torn about the decision.

Hunte:”If you go against justice here then the entire continent will be doomed. It has nothing to do with whether you want to marry into our Kingdom but everything to do with Justice for my sister. Look at her quiet over there unable to speak and shaken up from her trauma.”

Roy:”Shut the hell up! Shut up! I didn’t do anything to her! I don’t even have the strength too!”

The prince looked at me.

Hunte:”Do you recognize these two?”

Two soldier walked up to me and I could tell who they were right away. They were Hemo and Pen. I thought I had sent them back to the village.

Roy:”Hemo and Pen? What?”

Hunte:”So you do recognize them.”

Roy:”They grew up in the village with me, but they’re idiots who tried to use me.”

Hunte:”Idiots? Are they? You call them idiots and casted them aside when they tried to stop you from using your authority to bed women against their will. I mean, being the son of four very powerful women was something that made it easy for you. Didn’t you have an allowance of 100 gold coins a week?”

The people started discussing amongst themselves. It didn’t matter what I say because none of it would be believed. Hemo and Pen betrayed me because they were upset at me and now they’re turning all the lies on me and accusing me of things they did. This is something I’ve seen play out in politics a lot…

Roy:”F*** all of you! Erisu, please if you trust me then set me free. As soon as you free me from the cage I promise everything will work out! Please just believe me!”

The necklace Dhalia made for me was gone and I wouldn’t be able to call her but I know I could summon lots and lots of soldiers to keep them busy while we escaped. I’ve already maxed out the common soldiers and was building up the level two soldiers to the maximum. I’ve also made my omni mage as well.

Erisu:”Roy, I… the continent…”

Roy:”Don’t worry about the continent! Free me now! If you love me then free me! If you free me then–”

Roy was knocked out once more as Erisu saw and got angry.

Erisu:”Why did you hit him?”

Hunte:”He was spewing nonsense and trying to incite you to do something rash that might harm the civilians. Think about it heroine, if you attacked our guards and tried to free the criminal the fighting might harm the onlookers, I was doing it for their safety. Let the courts resolve this. Come with us back to our capital and speak to father and perhaps we can work this out.”

Hunte’s real goal was to negotiate a marriage with the heroine. For that she would need to return to the Capital with him.

Mana turned to Erisu who in turn stepped back and let the red haired sorceress speak instead. There was an elegance to her as the Mana flowed around her.

Mana:”Prince Hunte of the Beipan Kingdom, you should not do this. Erisu will not go back to your capital, instead the three of us will leave without any of our party and seek out the help of the Empress who is not allied with you. It would be more fair to have a neutral party conduct the trial than to have it within the Alliance where your family is the most powerful family. There will be issues of bias if this were to be done.”

Hunte:”Are you accusing the royal family of Beipan to be partial? I can assure you upon my name and title as the Prince we will be fair and impartial and will bring out witnesses. The trial will be done quickly so that those who have been harmed can seek their justice and move on with their lives without having to be put through too much suffering. Even if I love my dear sister I assure you my father has always been fair. We can even ask those of the other Kingdoms such as King Harri, or Queen Pelos.”

They were all allies of this royal family, not neutral parties and against the Rose Empire’s decision to remain out of the Alliance.

Mana:”So no matter what we say you will refuse to let him go.”

Hunte:”Yes.”

Mana:”Then I’m warning you not to kill him.”

Mana wanted to threaten them saying she didn’t care about the fate of the continent if Roy was harmed. Sarai felt the same and Erisu was shaking angrily and unable to do anything. Roy had asked her to free him and with the three of them they could do so but what about Justin and the girls?

What was the intent of the Beipan Royalty? Would they kill Roy?

Hunte:”So will you three be coming with us to the Capital?”

Sarai:”No, we are going to the Empire seek help from the Empress since we are not well versed in the petty politics of Royalty.”

Hunte kept his smile but inside he was boiling over. The entire point of this was to try and coerce the three of them into joining the Alliance through marriage. The Empress would be better at maneuvering political waters than they would.

Hunte:”Then the three of you are free to leave but we’re taking these three.”

Erisu:”Don’t think that I do not resent you for this, I’m only keeping up with this because the demon invasion is near and we can’t fight amongst ourselves.”

Hunte:”I think it’s better you focus on defending the continent and let me focus on punishing criminals.”

Hunte left but no longer had a smile on his face while Mana, Sarai and Erisu were not sure what to do. They took off and using Mana’s wind magic moved quickly towards the Empire as there wasn’t much time to waste.

On their way they wondered if their decision to leave was right.

Sarai:”Should we have fought and freed Roy?”

Erisu:”No, there is nothing we can do unless we’re willing to break off the alliance.”

Sarai:”He said if we freed him everything would work out. Do you think he knows something we don’t?”

Mana:”They disabled the pendant around his neck so Dhalia wouldn’t be able to come, I don’t know if he knew that.”

Erisu:”We can’t fight them right now when the demon invasion is coming. Even if we freed him there is no point if the continent is ravaged.”

Sarai:”I don’t know, he seemed to want you to trust him. I feel like we might have made a mistake by not fighting.”

The rest of the trip with the three of them went quietly as Roy’s capture made them experience multiple negative emotions at once.

A few hours later Roy and Justin were both in the dungeon locked up in in adjacent cells. The three women were chained to the wall as well, their pregnant bellies swelled out as Hunte and Arla were overlooking the preparations with multiple devices coming.

Hunte:”It didn’t work, she didn’t come here!”

Arla:”That Bi**h Sorceress, she ruined our plans. We had every Kingdom put a party around her to try and entice her into trusting us but instead she only attaches herself to those two who have nothing to do with us!”

Hunte:”You said this would work!”

Arla:”No! Father said this would work. I just played my part.”

Hunter looked at the jailers next to him. If the Empress came then there would be issues. The Empress was well versed in politics and had often made the Alliance lose their reputation among the people.

King Bide would be angry if this were not handled appropriately.

Hunte:”We need to take care of this quickly, bring some magic recording stones and prepare.”
