Stepmom-con – Ch. 41

Chapter 41

I walk forward slowly as not to make a sound but the goblin was hastily spreading his seed into several animals that were whining in pain. It wasn’t a good sight at all. I ran my sword through the back of it’s neck, surprisingly I didn’t have much trouble controlling it and the goblin champion fell over and stopped moving.

Plus 200 points.

The animals that were tied up also had point values over their head. I ended each of their lives. I know, that sounds cruel but after what they’ve been through and the fact they were carrying the seeds of the goblin champion meant there would only be more goblins later on.

Roy: “We’re done.”

I spoke to Justin through the system.

Justin: “You did it?”

Roy: “Yeah, I also killed the animals that were impregnated by the goblins.”

Justin: “I see.”

I walked out of the cave and found Justin there, so I retrieved  the other soldiers with the system and put a body into hiding. The soldier bodies don’t need food or water, they also don’t need rest so keeping them around was really convenient.

In the future when I had more soldiers I could place them all over the place and could bring an army any where I wanted in the continent.

Roy: “So I’m going to summon a level 2 soldier, and you know the level 2 soldier is different than the other ones right?”

Justin:”Yeah, you told me the choice here would determine what would come of it.”

Roy: “Alright bring your consciousness with me to the system, since you’re a user you can see it too.”

We enter the system space, which is a place that seems to be in a separate dimension. Well to be precise, it’s only our minds that go there. The minimum amount of points to create a level two soldier with one weapon was one hundred. Adding more weapons or equipment increased the cost, but it was a one time cost.

The level two soldier, well each level two soldier created represents a path and the soldier bodies would have a next level once we collect ten of the same path. They couldn’t switch weapons like the previous soldiers as the system had said these would represent soldiers that trained for years using a specific weapon.

Level three and onward would be automatically brought in by the system so what we did in level two was the most important.

Roy: “Justin, you should pick one path and I’ll pick the other.”

Justin: “You sure? The system says there are only three spots for customization and slots are permanent.”

Roy:”Seriously?”

I looked at the information and indeed, there were standard slots which the system pre-approved for specific classes on level two onward. Still, I can save the third slot right?

Roy: “I mean, if we’re going to just be using these bodies as adventuring bodies then having more lives is better, but picking your own path would be preferable.”

Justin: “Hmm… well we don’t have enough level one soldiers so we’ll earn the rest if we can find more goblin nests. Maybe we should build several different paths too instead of just one for each situation.”

Roy: “Maybe, but things like calvary are more expensive. To get a horse it’s three hundred points even at level two, but if you don’t add the horse at level two you won’t see it in subsequent levels.”

Justin: “Then maybe we should save the points?”

Roy: “No, the more bodies and more powerful bodies we can bring in now the more monsters we’ll be able to kill. The more monsters then the more points we have. We’re not planning on going to war any time soon, and soldiers can still fight in most environments. As long as we get higher level bodies they’ll always increase in strength.”

Justin: “Well… I guess the fact we can jump bodies as well can make up for the issue of mobility unless we’re fighting a large scale war. Alright, I’ll design the first one.”

I let Justin take the controls as he designed a level two soldier path that he would be using the majority of the time.  He added a shield and a heavy scimitar, which due to the added equipment came to 120 points. The twenty points was for the shield.

Justin: “A balanced build is usually best, this way I can have offense and defense. Let me test it out a bit. I’m didn’t use the magic option for now since we can’t afford any of it.”

Magic soldiers were expensive. A level two magic soldier with one element, which meant only low level spells would cost nearly 1,500. A healer costs 2,000. If I wanted a multi-elemental mage it would be one thousand extra for each element.

Magic users were rare in in humans and as such I guess the likelihood of having an army of mages was lower, but I could still do it if I had enough points.  Not to mention giving each mage multiple points… I can’t imagine what it would be like to add every magic, every ability and every weapon to one soldier.

I’ll save the third slot to make something that can do everything, but for now being able to each make our own soldier should help us moving forward.

We went back to the forest where the bodies of the dead goblins were as Justin took control of the new body. He took the sword to the tree and threw a cut at it, the sword went deeper than any of the other soldier bodies could do which signified he was stronger.

Justin tested several motions with it.

Justin: “Are we going to turn in the goblin bodies to the guild?”

Roy:”No, because I don’t want them to know this is all connected to us. Besides, these soldier bodies can’t speak anyway.”

Justin: “Alright, I’m going to test it out. Let me borrow a few other soldiers.”

Roy: “Sure.”

Justin brought the soldiers with him and dragged out the champions body with them. He also then began testing the movement of the level two body and moved around a lot, then struck the sword at the champions arm, which wasn’t able to cut deep but went deeper than when he was trying to cut it with the soldier.

Justin: “We’d still have a tough time killing the Goblin Champion with this but if the other soldiers kept pestering it with arrows the strength and movement are definitely stronger. I’d say about 10 to 20 percent stronger in total.”

Roy: “So it’s not a huge upgrade.”

Justin:”It’s still better and I like using this more. Thanks for this, but I can’t wait to see what you’re going to make.”

Roy: “Well the cost for this was 120 at level two, every level up is going to be ten times the cost. So 1,200 each when we get to level three. If the upgrade isn’t that high then should we focus on making more varieties of paths as well? I mean, at least one of each weapon and some calvary.”

Justin: “That makes sense, having more lives is better and having them fight along side us would be easier that way. Let’s go that path then. After you design your own let’s have a soldier with each type of equipment available for versatility.”

Roy: “Sounds like a plan man. Let’s go back for now and I’ll send more soldiers towards places where there are goblins. Your five harem members will be back in about three days so we should have time.”

We both returned to the mansion and it was still bright out so we went to the adventurer guild to look at the requests. Justin went with me and we stared at the wall of jobs. There were many goblin jobs that weren’t being taken.

Looking on the map I summoned three more soldiers and had them each go in opposite directions. They’ll probably reach tonight but I think I would like to sleep.
