Chapter 60
Erisu:”I’m not sure what’s so bad about that. Familial closeness is like that.”
Justin realized Erisu had grown up in Japanese culture. Riss and Liss were a bit perplexed but smiled a bit in happiness because Erisu might not have as many taboo thoughts about it.
Justin:”I mean, they are doing all that with him yes, but don’t you see how beautiful they are?”
Erisu:”Certainly his mother’s are both very beautiful. I’m assuming his other two are beautiful as well. What’s the problem with that?”
Justin wasn’t sure how dense this girl is, or perhaps was it something in her mind that was so taboo she couldn’t picture it. He looked over to his two fiances who were grinning from ear to ear.
Justin:”I mean, they want him in a certain way that a woman wants a man. You know, the kind where they would carry his baby.”
There was silence after Justin spoke. Mana and Sarai were shocked and Riss and Liss reading the mood now became silent. They all stared at each other back and forth.
Riss eventually broke the silence.
Riss:”Ah, I guess that’s still taboo amongst humans.”
Erisu:”Amongst humans? Isn’t this morally wrong? Isn’t there something completely awful about parents and their children doing something like that?”
Justin:”I think the same but they’re not blood related.”
Erisu:”It doesn’t matter! He still spent time in their wombs! He was inside them and they gave him life! Even if they’re not blood related he came out of them!”
Mana and Sarai were silent then they both hugged Erisu to comfort her. They were also a bit shocked learning about this. A mother wanting her own son was taboo. The Church would never allow it, and the Arcane Sanctum… well the Arcane Sanctum didn’t care honestly so Mana though shocked wasn’t as disturbed.
Justin:”They won’t do anything so you won’t have to worry. Roy has said multiple times that nothing is going to happen and even wears a band that makes him impotent.”
Liss:”The truth is he would need your permission if he were to do anything like that. You don’t have to worry because his mother’s won’t do anything to make him unhappy. He’s too important to them.”
Erisu:”This… but this! This is crazy! How can they lust after their own son? How? I… I don’t like this!”
Erisu walked out of the room in turmoil. Mana and Sarai got up bowed.
Sarai:”Please excuse us.”
They followed her out with Justin shaking his head.
Riss:”Well, she as bound to find out one day so maybe it was good she found out now.”
Justin:”What if she breaks it off with Roy over this? Is this fair for Roy?”
Liss:”You don’t have to worry about that. She has eyes for him, and her eyes show she was worried. That worry is because she loves him.”
Erisu walked out into the courtyard. Mana and Sarai were stopped by her as she said she needed some time to be alone as she walked into the garden. Justin was going to leave the next day and she was perturbed by everything she had heard.
His two mothers that she had already met were beautiful. She couldn’t measure her own beauty but those women were beyond what she would think a human woman could become. It was honestly too much for her to take. Wouldn’t any man be willing to forgo a taboo to be with an ageless beauty? What about her?
Erisu wandered the garden unsure of what she was going to do next when she noticed that there was someone already there. It was the Empress who was staring into the night sky. The Empress was shorter than her as she had grown over these few months but there was always that majestic aura about her.
Erisu bowed.
Erisu:”Empress I am sorry to disturb you.”
Empress:”That is fine, there is no need to bow to me when there is only the two of us around. Same as if it’s only Ashes. You are the Heroine and one day your title will make you equal to me in the eyes of the world.”
Erisu:”Thank you Empress… it’s just that I’m greatly troubled.”
The Empress could see Erisu’s face in turmoil. Erisu had come to admire the Empress through the training she had given and the Empress was someone whom she looked up to almost like a mother.
Empress:”Come my child, sit down here with me and tell me.”
The two sat on a small bench in the garden. The breeze came by slowly and Erisu felt too embarrassed to say what she had heard from Justin but the calmness of the Empress soothed her. It was as though the Empress was more than willing to listen to anything.
Erisu:”Empress, I was speaking with the friend of Roy. You know him as Justin and he told me something I found highly disturbing.”
Empress:”What did he say?”
Erisu took a deep breath. The calmness of the air made it so that she could only be willing to tell her what was said.
Erisu:”Roy’s mother’s want him as a man. They lust after him and Justin was telling me that he was not blood related but to me… he still came out of their womb. I can’t think of it as anything but strange that he came out of them and yet they still want him.”
The Empress listened and kept silent for a moment. She looked around the garden. She looked away from Erisu for a moment then quickly looked back after what seemed to be a few heaves of air.
Empress:”I think it’s perfectly normal.”
Erisu was shocked at those words but she didn’t react as she did in front of others. This was because she had respected the Empress as someone with far more experience in the world.
Empress:”If his own blood mother were to see him again, I’m sure she would lust after him and want to be with him as well. She would also want his children.”
Erisu:”Empress… is this… real?”
Empress:”Yes.”
Erisu became silent for a moment. She was questioning reality and wasn’t sure what to make of what she had just heard.
Erisu:”It’s hard to believe… Empress.”
The Empress looked at Erisu with kind eyes and Erisu could tell even though she had never see the face of the woman behind the mask that there was a kind soul within the armor. The Empress was known as a battle maniac who killed the cultists and unruly tribes of the south, she had never lost in a fight since she took the throne and yet there was some sadness in her eyes.
Empress:”Roy is a man that naturally attracts.”
Erisu:”Is it because of his status?”
Empress: “His status as the son of two very powerful and known women throughout the continent definitely attracts those who are more common, but I’m referring to another part about him that naturally attracts powerful women. Think about it yourself, Mana and Sarai. Were they ever disgusted by him?”
Erisu:”No they weren’t.”
Empress:”Naturally there is something about Roy that attracts powerful women whom he can give nothing too. It’s a natural charm he was likely born with.”
Erisu:”I see… then does the Empress also find him attractive?”
The Empress chuckled.
Empress: “Heroine, even if I do find your fiance attractive it is not something I can say out loud. If anyone were to have wind of it they might kidnap him and present him to me as a trophy, or if young men found themselves similar to him they would line up as my suitors.”
Erisu:”I see… well if you want to share him I am willing to do so with you Empress.”
The Empress had another chuckle.
Empress:”I thought you were the jealous type who didn’t want him to be with others. Weren’t you upset earlier when you heard about his mother’s wanting to be with him?”
Erisu:”I… well… after seeing Justin and the women who are around him I’ve come to realize this world is different from the one I came from where men and women pair off one to one. I realize there can still be a lot of sisterhood among the wives and a larger family isn’t always a bad thing. I still find it strange that his mothers want him that way… but after speaking to you Empress I think I can get used to it but only as long as Roy doesn’t casually go with women who are not part of the family.”
Empress:”So only those you approve of?”
Erisu:”Yes. I think a line has to at least be drawn there. Otherwise if he has children with women who want to take advantage of the family couldn’t they hold hostage his children?”
The Empress widened her eyes. This girl was much smarter than she looked and under her mask the Empress smiled.
Empress:”Heroine, you’re a very special person. I’m thoroughly impressed with you. As for Roy’s mothers I can promise you this after years knowing them. They care about Roy and they won’t overstep or force him into doing something he doesn’t want. I also don’t think Roy wants that kind of relationship with his mother’s either based on the intelligence I’ve gathered.”
Erisu:”Empress! You sent spies on him?”
Empress:”I apologize but you have to realize I control a nation with millions of people. Roy is a special individual who has ties to the Demon Extermination party. Four of them are identified as his mothers, and now he’s also tied to you the Heroine. We will keep your privacy sacred in the future but as a ruler I had to keep track of possible threats to the Rose Empire.”
Erisu listened to her explanation and found it acceptable. She bowed to the Empress.
Erisu:”Thank you for helping me clear my head, your majesty.”
She went back to the room where Justin was a bit dazed after it. When Erisu walked in he was a bit surprised. Behind her were both Sarai and Mana.
Erisu:”Justin, I’ll think about it in the future. The most important thing however is what Roy wants. His mothers are very close to him and though I find it very strange and somewhat repulsive I know that those women are very important to him.”
Riss and Liss smiled while Justin responded.
Justin:”He doesn’t want that kind of relationship with them. I tease him about it all the time ever since Riss and Liss told me. It’s a secret that can’t go out of this room though.”
Erisu stared at them.
Erisu: “Um…”
Riss:”What?”
Erisu:”I… I only calmed down because I spoke with the Empress about it…”
The room became silent.
