Chapter 56
I was stunned.
Three months clearing low level dungeons. Three months, collecting points and planning it out. All that effort cornering the goblin Emperor, sending my soldiers to kill him. Everything I worked for vanished in that instant.
Ten million points.
Gone.
Chief:”I thank you for helping us kill this scourge.”
The bearded man spoke then got off his horse and bowed to us. If only I could tell him how angry I am.
Justin:”Call the retreat order, we’re done here.”
Roy:”He took our prize! He took all the points! All of it from the Goblin Emperor!”
Justin:”So what? You’re going to kill him now?”
Roy:”No… I’m not…”
Justin used his controlled soldier to get off the horse and bowed to the bearded man, then we rode them out of sight to be retrieved. I left behind a few soldiers to hibernate out in the north in case something else came up. I lost about twenty thousand soldiers from this excursion and we didn’t get the Goblin Emperor.
—
The Chief saw that the armored soldiers rode off. They didn’t ask for payment or compensation. With the goblins gone they could once again hunt in the areas they were before, they would also now be vigilant to kill the goblins who come near.
The body of the Dead Goblin Emperor and it’s head lay at the feet of the Chief and so he brought the head back with him as a trophy. This trophy would forever unite the tribes of the north together.
—
In the mansion I was sitting in bed upset at how it happened. Justin was hanging out with me in the courtyard drinking a cold drink.
Roy:”How did that guy kill the Emperor when our soldiers were having so much trouble?”
Justin:”He’s probably a strong individual. Remember how we were told that an A-rank Adventurer could overpower a goblin champion? A level two soldier could cut him but not overpower one.”
Roy:”True, but if the tribes had such strong people why didn’t they attack the goblins?”
Justin:”Because they’re heavily outnumbered. If you took all one hundred thousand… no just twenty thousand soldiers and attacked their villages then even if you lost a lot of them you’d still win in the end.”
I took several breaths.
Roy:”I guess you’re right man. It’s just losing so much progress was hard.”
It’s like playing a video game and getting really far without saving, then on the sixth hour of progress the power goes out. That’s how it felt!
Justin:”Just keep going and doing dungeons. I mean, you’ve made steady progress so far.”
Roy:”It’s slow though, but it isn’t like I have much else to do now unless I want to fight orcs or something else. I won’t have a positive kill to death ratio of the level one soldiers fight the orcs. It’d be just like when they invade dungeons.”
Justin:”I don’t think the ratio matters when they come back to life every seven days.”
Roy:”Guess you’re right. I’ll just have to live with it.”
—
King Bide Solig, the king of the Beipan Kingdom had gathered the kings of twenty other Kingdoms around. They had a conference in his capital talking about an alliance that is to be officially formed.
There were Several other kings there including King Harri Kam, of the Socialite Kingdom and Queen Nance Pelos of the Fran Kingdom. Those were the three largest kingdoms who had their own large aristocracies behind them.
King Bide: “Greetings all, we have gathered today to make an alliance for the benefit of all the people in our lands. It is known that the Empire has a ruler who has absolute power who does not agree with the aristocracy or the right to rule based on our ancestors. However that Ruler Herself only had such a right as she was the ancestor of the Rose Kingdom.”
King Bide was an elder man, he had a son named Hunte Solig, whom he had wanted to match with the heroine. As long as the Heroine supported him the Alliance wouldn’t have challenges from within, even though humans were already the most powerful in their region.
King Harri sat nearby.
King Harri:”Have you already made a plan to dispose of the fiance of the Heroine?”
King Bide:”A time will come.”
Queen Pelos:”Will you share that plan with us?”
King Bide:”The plan itself is delicate and requires secrecy. If it comes out then it might fail. You will know when it happens and when the time comes I will ask for your full support.”
Queen Pelos: “I’ve received word from the Arcane Sanctum that the demon invasion will be delayed for two years.”
King Biden:”Good, then we should add the layout of the land as part of the training and suggest the Heroine go traveling instead of spending it with that useless peasant.”
Queen Pelos:”I want my son to go too.”
King Bide:”Very well, they can join the party a month before the invasion as a ‘familiarity’ course, but we mustn’t make it obvious since the purity of the heroine is still needed, but after fighting along side him then everything may fall into place.”
The Alliance Kings after hearing were all forced to sign an oath to secrecy where if they put out the contents of this meeting they would die. The two kings and the queen were the heads and had both military and economic power over them so they went along with it.
—
Dhalia returned home with a sad look on her face. I wasn’t too happy either with the Goblin Emperor being taken away from me. I had really wanted to those ten million points and I couldn’t get over it.
Dhalia princess-carried me and went up towards the stairs.
Roy:”Mom what are you doing? Put me down! People are watching!”
Dhalia:”Then they can watch all they want Darling, I’m doing this because I have some potentially bad news for you and you’ve looked sad and disappointed over the last two days.”
I was sad and disappointed, I lost my chance at a million soldiers. do you know how devastating that is? Ten million points is something that isn’t always available, but I’m not sure what this bad news is that mom’s talking about.
I let her carry me up to the bedroom. She didn’t put up a sound barrier so I was curious about that.
Dhalia:”The Demon invasion has been delayed for two years. I’ve received word from the Arcane Sanctum.”
Roy:”That’s great right? That means I can spend time with Erisu before—“
Dhalia:”No, that’s the bad news. Due to the delay and the requirements of purity, in order to prevent an accident they are requiring that she travels with an all female group for the majority of the two years and then she’ll train with the male warriors from each of the Kingdoms in the last month to prepare for the Demon Lord invasion.”
Roy:”Is all that necessary?”
Dhalia:”I wish I could say that it wasn’t but it is. Darling, I’ve been thinking about whether I should tell you this or not but I think since you’re going to be affected in terms of your fiance, you should probably know more about it.”
Roy:”More about what?
Dhalia:”You know the last heroine wasn’t pure when she took up the sword, as such there was a group of five known as the exterminators who helped seal the demons. The history isn’t well written because the long lived races remained away from human society during the invasion but humanity was beaten back to where we only had one bastion of cities left.”
Roy:”It was that bad?”
Dhalia:”Yes, and of the Five exterminators, four of them are your current moms.”
Well I heard that Dhalia was something like that in the colosseum.
Roy:”So how powerful are you and Mom Xeneva?”
Dhalia:”Oh, we’re still the strongest on the continent. I founded the Adventurer’s guild and trained them in many different survival skills, equipment building and other things. Xeneva took care of the merchant side of things as the more goods were available the easier the Kingdoms could Expand. Your other two mothers, one of them wrote all the books on monsters and things that you can hunt and the other wrote all the magic books within the Arcane Sanctum. They don’t really want to be known for their previous roles and frankly Xeneva and I let our names fade into history as well.”
I was in awe. So this woman who is princess carrying me while we’re in the room had such a storied background.
Dhalia:”The last Kingdom standing at the time was the Rose Kingdom, though it’s now the Rose Empire after beating down some of the crazy tribes to the south. All the other Kingdoms were all formed after the sealing of the demon lord. The truth is we spread around the knowledge and training because we wanted more powerful kingdoms to rise for this invasion.”
Roy:”Is this invasion going to be a bad one?”
Dhalia:”Yes. It’s going to be the biggest invasion in history because the Demon Lord although the five of us beat him back the heroine had no purity and we couldn’t seal him properly. None of us know his limits. The delay of his invasion only hints at a reprieve because his power is so much greater.”
Roy:”I didn’t know it was that bad…”
Dhalia smiled.
Dhalia:”You don’t need to worry Darling, all of us will protect you and we’ll do our best to help the little girl with the amazing large bust you like so much.”
Dhalia always teased me like this, but still she wants to… I can’t fathom it.
Roy:”You don’t have to be jealous mom. You’re always going to be a part of my family.”
Dhalia kissed me lightly on the lips.
Dhalia:”I know son. I know.”
It was still a bummer to know it would take longer to be with Erisu. I wasn’t sure how to process the idea that my four moms were such huge figures of the current world here. It made me wonder how my human mother joined them.
Roy:”What about the fifth member of the exterminators?”
Dhalia:”She was human and you know about human life spans don’t you?”
Oh… she probably died of old age.
Dhalia:”Come on, let’s eat dinner then bathe together today. Just use the armband I gave you so you don’t have to worry about your snake rising towards the heavens.”
Dhalia winked.
I blushed.
She put me down and held my hand leading me down stairs to dinner. I guess this is appropriate but both moms so far have been all for physical contact with me. I don’t think I was afraid of being touched by them anymore.
