Stepmom-con – Ch. 47

Chapter 47

The five girls all left after four of them moaned all night. I was in Dhalia’s arms and she put a sleeping spell on me so I wouldn’t have to hear it. Mom was always so good to me it made me feel guilty for rejecting her… but still…

Unless she’s not going to be my mom anymore… but she gave birth to me…

It was something still very muddy in my head and the life span issue was also a kind of bother to me. If I was raised from a baby by an elf woman for instance, who taught me everything growing up then as an adult she wanted to do it with me after being a mother figure…

I mean… It’s… weird…

I got up, ate breakfast and said good by to my sisters and my ex-maid along with her adventurer friends.

Justin:”What did you end up doing?”

Roy:”I mostly got a ton of soldiers and we’re well over a hundred. I was thinking of hunting down every goblin we can first and then go for the warlord.”

Justin:”Good idea, more numbers is good.”

Roy:”We can take out the other monsters in the forests too.”

Justin and I began hunting in the forests. We found a small orc encampment and killed them with the soldiers with arrows. Having numbers reduced casualties when they operated to my intention since more soldiers meant more support.

Justin:”We don’t even have to fight anymore.”

Roy:”Well, we can reduce casualties if we kill the Goblin Champions our selves but it might be faster just to use soldiers.”

Justin:”Let’s get 10,000 soldiers before we go after the goblin Warlord. We can add killing orcs as well since they give more points. Actually there are a lot of monsters on the map including wolves. Do we have to worry about monsters going extinct in this world?”

Roy:”No, not really. From what I get monsters naturally re-spawn for some reason. I think they come from dungeons. Like natural wolves will become monster wolves if they get too much magic, but they usually separate from the pack before that happens and animals avoid the monsters.”

Justin:”So the monsters go against the natural order of things?”

Roy:”I guess so, I mean dungeons appear in this world similar to how it appears in some Isekai worlds. I’m guessing that has to do with the abundance of magic gathering together or something like that since magic is natural in this world.”

Justin:”Interesting, maybe after we’re done with the warlord we can go and check out dungeons and other monsters.”

Roy:”Good idea.”

—-

A month went by and Dhalia noticed based on the trends on the board that there were fewer and fewer goblin requests. Some adventurers reported that they saw soldiers fighting the goblins but they wouldn’t make any verbal sounds while fighting but could also work together.

In her office with Dhalia looked over all of it. She neglected to hire another assistant when Arwen left and instead mulled it over.

An adventurer was brought to her who had recently seen the silent soldiers. He was a human who had been traveling through to see all the female adventurers in this capital. He went by the name Silver.

Silver:”Greetings to the Master of all Adventurer guilds.”

Dhalia:”Leave the formalities, I wanted to ask you what you saw in those soldiers who were slaying the goblins. There have been more and more sightings and their numbers seem to be increasing.”

Silver:”They killed all the goblins, and afterwards marched on. One of the villagers I passed by said they were about to send a request to the guild but noticed that the goblins stopped coming so when they went to invest saw those soldiers killing them. They’ve been called the Silent Soldiers.”

An obvious name befitting of soldiers that didn’t speak, but there was something odd about it all.

Dhalia:”Do the soldiers eat or sleep, or do any of those things?”

Silver:”No, but when they try to follow them, when they lose sight the soldiers who are part of that group sometimes disappear. Many of the villagers and small towns call them soldiers of the gods who came to protect them.”

Dhalia:”Quite funny. I don’t believe they mean any harm but I get the feeling they’re not living beings but summoned avatars of some sort.”

Silver:”That could be possible, but what kind of powerful summoner can bring so many out at once?”

Dhalia:”I don’t know. Most summoners only bring in a beast or two, or a magical avatar. A summoner who brings out common soldiers almost seems useless, except he’s bringing out so many at once.”

Dhalia took out a pendant and gave it to Silver.

Dhalia:”Take this and use it to inform me if you happen to see anything interesting out there. I want to know more about the summoner and these soldiers if I can. So far they’ve been doing good but it’s not a bad idea to monitor them.”

Silver:”I’ll report anything I can Guild Master.”

Silver bowed and dismissed himself as Dhalia thought about the goblin deaths. In a way it let the Adventurers focus on the more difficult tasks since goblins were jobs that even the F-rank Adventurers didn’t want to do, and those who paid for it were usually small villagers who couldn’t afford a good enough wage.

There was however an Adventurer economy, and making sure the summoner was a part of the guild was important as well so the guild could keep track.

Dhalia:”I’m going to go home… think about this later. I want to snuggle with Darling again tonight. He seems happier these days.”

Dhalia teleported back home where she found Roy was in his room sleeping. She found the maid Catherine.

Dhalia:”Roy and Justin have been sleeping most of the days?”

Catherine:”They’ve been doing that everyday for a month. They hardly go out and they come down for meals when it’s time.”

Dhalia:”So they like to stay home?”

Catherine:”I guess they do.”

Dhalia:”I should go wake Darling up at least.”

We had worked hard this month and we’re nearing ten thousand common soldiers. Our goal of course was one million. Then we could attack without worry and build up to a level seven soldier just because it would be fun.

Since Erisu was going to be fighting the demons, I suppose being able to control an army like this could help her. It’s just I didn’t want to tell too many people. I felt like if too many people knew we would become targets so it was only Justin and I.

I took my dual bladed soldier and ran into the goblin cave cutting up the little goblins until I came to the champions who looked towards me. When they came I bombed them, five in all.

That was one thousand points, and to think the first day we were doing this we struggled just to kill one or two.

Dhalia:”Darling, are you awake now?”

Crap, I set the soldier to run away and contacted Justin.

Roy:”My mom is back home, we should wrap this up quickly.”

Justin:”Alright man, we’ll continue tomorrow. We’ll be at ten thousand then after the girls swing by we can take on the WarLord. From what the map says the villagers are evacuating the areas the warlord is taking and some nobles are gathering soldiers to attack in a few days.”

Roy:”Yeah, we’ll hit them before that.”

I heard the door open and my consciousness returned to my body. Dhalia walked into the room smiling.

Dhalia:”Oh you’re awake. I was hoping I didn’t disturb you.”

Roy:”It’s fine mom.”

Dhalia:”Darling, I spoke with the maid today. I wanted to ask why you and Justin both stay at home in your rooms so much.”

Roy:”Um… it’s just we…”

Dhalia:”It’s strange for young men your age. For Justin I can understand if he’s exhausted and trying to recover from his night activities when those girls come back but you… I know you get enough sleep.”

Roy:”Mom, it’s just… well… It’s a secret.”

Dhalia:”Secret? Something you can’t tell mommy?”

Roy:”Well, there are things you keep from me too right? There are things Mom Xeneva doesn’t tell me things as well, like about Anon.”

Dhalia’s eyes suddenly widened and she lifted me off the ground and flew with me to the upper corner of the room. There I was in her arms as she turned and looked around the room.

Dhalia:”Roy, never say that name. Never mention that name.”

Mom looked really serious. I’ve never even seen Xeneva that serious before, though she was serious when she mentioned that name.

Roy:”I’m sorry mom.”

Dhalia:”Now, is there something sapping your energy? Something bothering you a lot? Something that makes you sleep a lot? Darling, please… if those things are there it could be serious.”

Roy:”No mom, nothing like that.”

Dhalia lowered to the ground with me then back to the bed. She gently held onto me trying to make sure everything was okay.  I felt her hands running around my body then she grabbed my crotch.

Dhalia:”Mommy gets that Darling because you scared her.”

She smiled then put me down.

Dhalia:”Still you’re not a vampire so staying in a dark place during the day isn’t good for you. Humans need sunlight so at least go out with Justin in the morning if you want to take long afternoon naps.”

Roy:”Yes mom.”

Justin came out as well shortly and we had dinner together, and after I was back in mom’s arms at night as she cuddled me closely. Mom never seemed to get tired of this.

A week goes by and Justin and I had gone out every morning for a walk like mom wanted. I could still direct the soldiers to go to places on the map here and there. I also directed them to attack smaller goblin settlements as the map was able to show the amount of risk to attack specific areas so I made sure not to lose soldiers.

We reached ten thousand and then we planned our attack on the warlord. Our strike would take place right after lunch and would be in the afternoon. Estimated time would be about two hours since we outnumbered them. My biggest concern was the goblin warlord since it was more powerful than a champion.

We both went to our beds after eating lunch and told Catherine not to bother us. There were soldiers in position but I still had a few scattered throughout.

Riss, Liss and the three adventure girls were gone for a few days going to travel around learning more about business. So we had time to do this after going out since Catherine won’t report to Dhalia that we were just staying home all day. We got our sunlight and now it was time to slay some goblins.

Roy:”Ready?”

Justin:”Let’s do it bro! We have a few hours before your vampire mom gets home so let’s start!”

Roy:”Alright.”

We bring our avatars to some nearby areas of where the Goblin Warlord is located. I had spread some soldiers to surround them so we could summon the common soldiers nearby.

This was going to be the first large scale battle so if we end up losing everything we’ll just cease activities for a week until they all come back. We only have one shot to strike while the nobles are gathering their soldiers to assault the goblin’s territory.

The area was in a forest area where a village used to be. The Goblin Warlord had commandeered the building there. Bones littered the ground since they didn’t care to clean up after they ate. I could turn off the smelling sensation for the soldiers as well as the pain.

Justin:”So how about this, I’ll attack with soldiers from the south and you attack from the north. We can surround them and just slay them as we go.”

Roy:”Sounds like a plan, let’s do it quickly. The map can point out every goblin so we won’t miss one.”

Justin:”Good, these f**kers can breed quickly. I’m tired of seeing all those dead women in the nests.”

Roy:”I know what you mean.”
