Let’s get the bad news out of the way first.
Starting from November, I will have to reduce the release frequency. I’ve been trying to build a stack big enough to get through October in the event that October also turns out busier than I predict. How little will releases be from November? To tell the truth, I don’t know, either. If I use my whole stack for October, November may have very little releases. It doesn’t help that chapters have suddenly 2x-3x the length now, which means I have to deliver 2x-3x more in the same time frames. I plan to use November as the test to see what I can manage and then give a more concrete number come December.
With that said, I’ll continue to do my utmost to keep releases as frequent as possible.
As for release time, I don’t imagine it’ll be different except for the exceptional one here and there, but I guess we’re going to find out.
As release frequency could be impacted severely, I may do away with higher tiers on Patreon because I want to, for instance, give you a chapter a week and expect you to donate $100 a month. It’s daylight robbery to me. Unfortunately, this has been a long-standing issue of the Patreon model that the industry has refused to evolve from. I will leave the final decision up to you.
The good news, which is more good news for me than anyone (sorry, guys), is that I may finally have myself a job with income that will finally get me out of the living-from-paycheck-to-paycheck life.
I am opening my own private/semi-private gym.
While continuing to teach Taekwondo and translate, I’ve been running around to sort out the lease, get council approvals, purchase equipment (customisations and custom-made equipment took even longer since I had to get involved with the modifications I wanted), develop an app, get the CRM built out, and more. It has been a busy period trying to get this all done myself.
I’m looking to officially open the doors at the start of November, which means I’ll be busy coaching and working on the business going forwards. Days will start at 5AM for me, with a break in the middle of the day to get on admin tasks, content creation, following up with clients, cleaning and all that jazz. Then, I’ll have to resume coaching duties from 4PM until 8PM. Saturdays are the exception, with the day wrapping up at 11AM for me to sort out the books for the week, deal with any remaining admin work and so forth. I’ll be living out of the gym to save on fuel and travel time, but I’ll have to go home on Sundays to take care of my mom, cook the meals for the week, and deal with house chores. It’s a 1-man operation, so…
So, as you can see, I’ll be very limited in how much time I can dedicate to translating. However, as I don’t like to leave things incomplete, I’m going to strive to see this series through to the end. I’m not sure it even has enough popularity for someone to pick up if I dropped out, not to mention the difficulty of translating it compared to the more popular stuff. I also don’t want to see its translations butchered, which would be a real pity considering what it has to offer. If this means 1 chapter per week, I’ll still do it as long as there’s an audience for it.
If you guys can’t support this, I totally understand. I’ll always be grateful you even chose to trust me and spent time with me since life is made up of time itself. I understand that you may not like this decision, but I have decided that it’s important to me to escape this cycle of hoping the next paycheck comes around soon enough to cover the next period.
I don’t have much to make it up to you with, so if it interests you, send me a message on a social media account, on the NU forum (will check there once or twice), or to the business email on the about page, and I will send you more information about the app (includes workout plan and tracker you can follow along with, nutrition tracker, supplements plan, weekly check-in function for you to track progress, a vault for educational content I will continue to add to, and wearable device integration will be available by the end of the year) so that I can help you in the health and fitness capacity. As you’ve always supported me, I will provide you with an affordable, discounted lifetime rate that will only ever be available to you. This offer will always be yours, so you can reach out to me if you ever change your mind.
If you have any questions or concerns, leave a comment below, and I’ll respond to you as soon as I can.
Other than that, I’ll continue doing what I’ve always done.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.
P.S. For anyone curious, the gym will offer boxing, Muay Thai, physical therapy, chronic pain treatment, and building a body that’d be a sin to cover up on the custom-made equipment.
