Chapter 30
In the morning I woke up and met with Justin and Erisu who were still in the mansion. I felt a little starstruck over Erisu being that I was a huge fan of hers when I was living my other life. Mom said she knows I was reincarnated.
She was out in the garden and looking over flowers. There weren’t many maids nearby and she seemed to be staring at the plants. Her slender body was thinner than both moms but her breasts were just as large and almost the size of her own head. Standing there, it looked like one of those cartoons where the woman had top heavy breasts that would break her back, yet it didn’t seem as though she was at all bothered by it.
I remembered how she looked in pictures and performances, she had a six pack underneath her clothing. One of the ways women with large assets could keep themselves from having problems was being incredibly fit.
She was short, but perhaps tall for a woman. She was the same height as I was, if we stood next to each other we would see eye to eye.
I approached her, I really wanted to be friends with her since I couldn’t in my last life. All the languages here seem to conglomerate into one, transmigrators don’t seem to have a language barrier as they would speak the same language as the inhabitants.
Erisu: “Good morning Roy-san.”
Roy: “Good morning Moto-San.”
I was trying to be formal and polite and for some reason it stunned Erisu. She stared at me.
Erisu: “Roy-San, were you Japanese before you reincarnated?”
Roy: “Chinese American, but I watched a lot of anime so I know the honorifics.”
Though I cringe when I use them. I don’t like honorifics, I prefer the English way of doing things where we just call someone by their name. I guess a Miss or Mister works from time to time, but most Americans don’t give a damn about honorifics unless they’re being called by children.
Erisu: “Oh, you’re an American Otaku?”
Roy: “Maybe, but not quite since I actually had a best friend. Justin was my best friend from a child. I socialized with people I worked with.”
That is before I lost my job. I had to find a way to eat you know.
Erisu: “Ah Roy-San, I understand. Did you know about me?”
Roy: “You were my favorite singer.”
Erisu suddenly stopped talking, if I remembered correctly she had her fans but she always found it difficult dealing with them. You could tell by her body language when she greeted others, while she wanted to be happy for the support she was also wary and had several stalkers.
Roy: “That’s where it stops though, Erisu-San. I’m not the kind to stalk someone. I’ve never even went to one of your concerts, only Justin has and the result was he was forced to jump worlds like this.”
Erisu began to relax a bit.
Erisu: “I apologize Roy-san. Being an idol means everyone is always giving me attention and they don’t seem to know the real me from it. It’s hard to talk to people and while I appreciate every one who supported me it’s hard to give everyone a piece of me.”
Roy: “I don’t know if your life will be better now Erisu-san. You’re the Heroine and there will be a lot of people watching you.”
Erisu smiled.
Erisu: “I’m used to the attention, but if I can wield a sword and fight it is much better than being at the mercy of fans who might stalk me. After this is over and I’ve saved the world I’ll retire quietly to the country side.”
Roy: “Country side alone? By yourself?”
Erisu: “Well I hope to be able to start a family when that happens.”
Roy: “Erisu-San, are you telling me this because you are making small talk or is that really your dream?”
Erisu stared at me for a moment as though not sure what to say then she gave a warm smile.
Erisu: “Roy-san, it is my dream. What’s your dream Roy-san?”
What the heck? Why did her mood suddenly change?
Roy: “I want to protect everyone I know, and figure out how to make my mark on this world. My best friend is with me so we can figure something out together.”
Erisu: “I understand.”
She looked a bit disappointed. Maybe it’s her way of saying that she was expecting something more? Well, she’s sixteen and all.
Roy: “You’re going to have a long road ahead Erisu-san. If you ever need help or there is anything you can think of let me know.”
Erisu: “Thank you, Roy-san.”
I gave her a slight smile as Justin came by.
Justin: “The three adventurer girls are around, let’s hang out with them.”
Roy: “They’re inviting us out?”
Justin: “Yeah, show us around town.”
Roy: “Do you have money? I gave away all my allowance.”
Justin: “I don’t… I don’t… crap… how am I?”
Erisu watched as we made our words exchange. She had an amused smile and laughed.
Erisu: “Justin-san has a liking to the three adventurers?”
Justin: “Well… yeah…”
Roy: “It was love at first sight for him.”
Justin: “Well, yeah… if Dhalia wasn’t your mom I’d have eyes for her too but a bro doesn’t bang his bro’s mom. Still, I don’t have high standards.”
Erisu: “Bro doesn’t…”
Roy: “We are in front of a lady!”
Justin: “Oh, sorry bro, my bad man… It’s just I’ve never been invited out like this before and I wanted to make a good impression. I need to find a job or something.”
That’s true, Justin doesn’t like feeling useless.
Erisu: “Justin-san, Dhalia had told me you were at my concert before coming here.”
Justin: “Yeah… it’s two days after Roy got hit by a truck. Died at twenty-one, and I’m guessing he’s a bit younger now. Fun how reincarnation is.”
Erisu: “I… I see…”
Roy: “Justin, if you’re going out just keep the pendant that my mom gave you that should protect you. I don’t think you’ll run into too many problems if they’re taking you out, just tell them you just arrived and don’t have much money.”
Justin: “Alright, I’ll do that then.”
Roy: “Also don’t be a push over. Girls here don’t like men they can walk all over. If you find they’re not to your liking then just come straight back. I got a plan that will start next week so don’t think too much about trying to find your own way just yet.”
Justin: “Plan huh?”
Roy: “Yeah, you’ll see.”
Justin walked off, presumably to go to town with Chrissy, Arwen and Edna. I wondered why they weren’t at the Guild training anymore.
Erisu: “Are you going with him?”
Roy: “No, he is trying to get their attention, so I don’t want to get in his way.”
Erisu had a bit of a teasing smile as she looked away then back at me.
Erisu:”Then you being here means you’re trying to get my attention?”
Is she flirting with me? There are subtle signs, but somehow they are similar to what Xeneva did. Being bold is how it works.
Roy: “Maybe I am.”
I gave a smile.
Erisu: “That’s nice to know, but you know there are many who tried to get my attention in the past. What makes you different?”
Roy: “Oh, well I’m reincarnated. I have the experience of an old man despite being a young man.”
Erisu burst out into laughter as though she could never imagine such a statement.
Erisu: “What kind of benefit is that? I mean… it does make Roy-san different but it’s too funny! An old man in a young man’s body is a benefit?”
Roy: “Well, old men lose the libido due to their age, not their mind.”
Erisu continued laughing some more. It seems I broke the ice with her and the conversation started to become more smooth and we talked throughout the rest of the day.
